New Prey Trailer Gives us a Closer Look at The Aliens

The Typhon Research trailer shows us a little bit more about the types of aliens we will encounter in Prey.

Prey [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/prey], is a game about hunting aliens in a space station. Today, the developer has dropped a trailer showing us a little bit more about the actual aliens we will be fighting in the game, and what their abilities are.

First, we see the Mimic, the most basic of the Typhon lifeforms and about the size of a headcrab. The mimic possess the ability to camouflage itself as an inanimate object.

Next, the Phantom is the bog-standard trooper-style Typhon - humanoid creature that can either attack in melee with it's morphing hands, or at range with a projectile orb. Think Vortigaunt [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vortigaunt], to continue the Half-Life comparisons.

Finally, the Telepath is a giant floating lump of matter with strong telepathic abilities. I guess this one would be Nihilanth [http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Nihilanth].

The game launches on May 5 for PC, Xbox one and PS4.

I am actually getting a little bit hyped to see how good this game actually turns out. Maybe it will surprise everyone and turn out pretty good.

I think those Telepaths are more like Controllers than Nihilanth. I'm hoping Nihilanth (and Gargs) come later.

At least once I want to see a whole space ship turn into a blob monster from the darkest reaches of your nightmares. I also hope there's more than four types of enemies and they're hiding some surprises from us, or it could all get a bit stale.

So basically the Mimic is the Polymorph from Red Dwarf, only without the Emotion Draining ability ;)

I doubt they'll play up its ability to full comic potential, which is a great shame

A quadrupedal, a humanoid and a floating blob.
Can't say I'm impressed with the designs of the enemies. They look unfinished and unimaginative.

so they took the old game with it's trippy physics, astral projection, and native american mythology and turned it into half-life in space... so deadspace... SOoooo glad they decided this was better than making an actual sequal.
