Arkham Asylum: Now With PhysX!

Were you really, terribly disappointed that Batman's raging brawls in the depths of Arkham Asylum didn't kick up paper on the floor in a realistic way? Well, this final trailer for the PC version - with PhysX support - should satisfy your needs.

Now, I thought Batman: Arkham Asylum was pretty damn good [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/reviews/6467-Review-Batman-Arkham-Asylum], but while PS3 and Xbox 360 owners have been able to Batarang fools in the face for a few days now, PC gamers are just going to have to wait a bit. Of course, if developer Rocksteady Studios is to be believed, the PC version will be the best one out there, thanks to the handy inclusion of physics! Er, I mean PhysX!

Watch as Batman's swift run kicks up fallen papers behind him! Gasp as the Batarang flicks through some sort of draped cloth! Thrill as the Dark Knight slams an enemy into a table and shatters it! Maybe be disappointed when you throw a Batarang at a desk lamp and nothing happens!

Oh well. PhysX or not, it's a pretty good trailer for the game, and if you're still holding out on buying it, it might just push you over the edge.

We'll see if it was worth waiting THREE WEEKS!! BAAAWW!!!!

Okay, it might add some realism, but I hope this wasn't the only reason to delay the game. It would be pretty much pointless.

Is it just me or does that video not really showcase anything that's not already doable on the consoles? I've been playing the 360 version and I haven't noticed anything I'd say was goofy physics-wise. Sure, maybe some of the bits and pieces of debris and papers would make it look prettier to some but I'm quite pleased and impressed with what the 360 can do. I don't see why the PC version's selling point is PhysX but I guess if that's all it has to offer over the consoles the marketing team has to sell it as they can.

Now if it had a challenge/level creator/editor tool, that'd be the thing to showcase.

Yeah...I want the game already, but I'm not sure if a little add-on like some blowing papers is going to make people change their minds...not to mention I'm sure it makes running the game a little more demanding on a PC.
[sup]And I already chug a bit! :-S[/sup]
Oh well.

Hm. I thought they all were PhysX supported in a way...guess not.

Oh well, I was one of the handful of people who looked at the graphics and didn't touch themselves, but if it's there, I'll take it.

I supose thats one way to get PC owners to buy a port. Appeal to their sense of superiority.

For 10 times the price of an xbox 230 arcade you'd hope to get some benefits from a gaming rig.

Granted I haven't played it myself, but I've seen it being played (watching my boyfriend play through it) on the XBox it looks like a damn good game.
I'd rather have it on XBox 360 than on PC, too be honest, but thats personal preference, as I prefer too play games on consoles rather than on PC (with the exception of a few games like Left4Dead).

I hope it's not implemented as poorly as it was in mirrors edge.

PS3 have exclusive Joker, PC has improved physics...

looks like the poor old 360 has been left with nothing but the game itself... how sad :( oh wells, it'll probably get something at some point, knowing Microsoft.

Excuse me, but my PC costs less than an Xbox 360 nowadays. And it's pretty well-known that PC games look better, simply because of their superior (at least amongst the mid to high-end settings) GPU and raw power.

The question is, will anyone see PhysX at work if they're playing with Detective Mode on full-time? When I tried the demo, I was tempted to leave the "Bat-Radar" on all the time.

In the mean time I'll laugh at the PC gamers while I swing threw Arkham throwing batarangs left right and centre.

Also, why have I not heard any stories of ppl who got the collectors edition dismembering a cat or sumat by accident with the replica batarang they got?

You're excused. Gaming rigs do cost more than consoles, I can pick up a 360 for £110. You can spend more than that on a graphics card. I'd want better graphics for the money.

Not being a parasitic student anymore I no longer own a gaming PC. It's not affordable.

it does seem a fair trade really, PS3 gets more levels, PC gets better physics, tho i think the PS3 could probly get the physx since they have an nvidia chip

I do find it funny that while giant mutants are swinging boulders at the batman the camera is focusing on all the papers flitting around.
