Outlast 2 PC System Requirements Announced

You'll be able to walk into the terrifying world of Outlast 2 next week, and now Red Barrels has revealed just how much PC you'll need to check out its new survival horror game.

You might be surprised to see that you won't need a ton of PC horsepower to run Outlast 2 well. In fact, you can run the game on a GTX 260, a video card that was released in June of 2008. Here are the minimum and recommended requirements:

Minimum Requirements (720p @ 30fps)

OS: Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10, 64-bits
CPU: Intel Core i3-530
Memory: 4GB RAM
GPU: 1GB VRAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 / ATI Radeon HD 4870
HDD: 30 GB

Recommended Requirements (1080p @ 60fps)

OS: Windows Vista / 7 / 8 / 10, 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i5
Memory: 8GB RAM
GPU: 1.5GB VRAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 660 / ATI Radeon HD 7850
HDD: 30 GB

Outlast 2 will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on April 25.

Huh, yeah, those are surprisingly mild.

Does that mean Red Barrel put in the work to properly optimize the PC version? Guess we'll know on release.

A lot more games will work on 260/4870 if they don't arbitrarily require DX11.

I dunno, makes sense to me. It's a game with a pretty reasonable budget and all they really need to render is dark enclosed hallways. Unless this game is taking a dramatic departure from the original I imagine they've had a lot of time to optimize and improve their tech for re-use here.
