While I've had my doubts about Multiplayer since the moment it was announced, it's fate doesn't affect my purchase of the game. Although if it's good I will be popping the disc in more often.

System Shock 2 had a tacked-on co-op mode forced into it through a patch at the publishers insistence too.
And look how well that worked out.

A contender for worst multiplayer of the year comes out swinging.
I highly suggest you check out some of the videos of the multiplayer.
It actually looks... awesome. I didn't think much of it when I first heard about it, but not I want to give it a spin.

Another reason not to buy the game.

Good job you guys. Maybe you can make Borderlands 2 without LAN! That'll make me buy it for sure!

aftertought multiplayer, no LAN support and insanely stupid DRM... is 2K sabotaging it's own game or it's just my paranoid imagination? I really don't give mutch for the multiplayer but it could have been a nice adition (specially if it was co-op... im not so mutch into competitive play as in cooperative games, but this wasn't the case either).

Do you want to bet that the DLC is going to be features for the multiplayer that should have been put in the first place?

Meh. This really doesn't surprise me. I'd already decided not to get it due to the DRM and this just reinforces that. I just don't get why devs keep deciding that they know better. We all know that we should be able to kick cheaters. Why should I have to leave a game because someone is cheating? If only there were some kind of solution where an admin could take care of that. Maybe on some kind of server-like system. Hey, that would also give people the freedom to choose which server they are playing on. And use mods and stuff. Pity no-ones come up with that eh?

I still haven't even tried it, been trying on & off for 5 years now to organize a game, it just never happens. But I've heard that I'm wasting my time because it just ruined the game.

It never ceases to amuse me to watch PC gamers cry about no dedicated servers.

Not sure why they bothered.

When playing Bioshock I never thought to myself "This game could really use multiplayer!".
Same here. It works well as a single players, perhaps offline multiplayer, but not online

In my opinion, game developers - in general - seem to no longer care about PC gamers. :(

You heard Infinity Ward; we're just a minority!

Reason for edit: to change the wording so that it's fairer toward game developers. Strange... I guess that my initial edit didn't work.

I didn't have high hopes for the multiplayer based on the gunplay of the first game, this has just made me certain I don't want to play it.
I tend to only play multiplayer games as well, but Bioshock doesn't need it in my opinion.

With no say apparently. At least real life minorities usually have special interest groups to influence decision making.

Looks like dedicated servers really are on the way out.

Oh, they do care. They do care about selling (or actually renting) their game... when they have total control over their game in a platform where only the gamer is supposed to have total control over it. While at the same time attempting to justify it with the piracy bullshit.

Playing it? Only by the developer's permission (online craptivation) Modding? Only by the developer's permission. Extra maps? Only by extremely limited priced dlc offerings. Single player gaming without internet connection? "Tough luck there buddy. We need to protect our IP. And what better way to do so than screwing you up? What's that? How dare you say to our face that you'll pirate our holy game, filthy infidel?!"

Are they seriously brainstorming every idea out there that will keep gamers from buying this game? Unfair kicking? Methinks 2K Elizabeth feels she's gotten the "unfair" boot a few times. I just have nothing else to say.

Yeah - so much for our beloved dedicated servers.

Yup.

Game developers aren't really combating piracy; really, there is no stopping it. As it has been said many times, it's only hurting the legitimate customer.

No kick option? On X-BOX?! Are they not aware of that console's multiplayer base? o_O
I get kicked for being British on Xbox. I'm glad they don't have the kick option.
