New Premium Content Beefs Up Xbox Live Download Service

Microsoft announced today that the A&E Network, ADV Films, National Geographic and TotalVid.com will be adding TV series and movies to the Xbox Live Network. Not to be outdone, Paramount and Warner Brothers Home Entertainment will now be offering a selection of high-definition movies for download, as well.

Paramount brings Braveheart, Team America: World Police, World Trade Center and South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut to the table, while Warner Brothers is releasing two direct to video movies exclusively on Xbox Live simultaneously with their release on DVD: Sublime and Babylon 5: The Lost Tales.

Free entertainment is extremely popular with Xbox Live members; Comedy Central's HD version of South Park: Good Times With Weapons has been downloaded 380,000 times to date. Promo clips from the movie 300 were downloaded more than 477,000 times.

In addition to feature-length movies, some TV shows are headed to Xbox Live, as well:
The A&E Network is offering Dog The Bounty Hunter, King of Cars, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Driving Force and Criss Angel Mindfreak.
ADV FIlms will be offering top selections of Japanese animation.
National Geographic is bringing Is It Real? and Taboo, as well as 21 Days to Baghdad and Air Force One.

Finally, TotalVid.com is offering a broad range of extreme sport programming, such as skiing, snowboarding, surfing and mountain biking.
