343 Industries Hires Pro Halo Player for Upcoming Xbox One Game

Pro Halo player "GH057ayame" from Team Carbon has been hired by 343 Industries for the next entry in the franchise.

Eric Hewitt, more commonly known as "GH075" in the pro Halo circuit, has been tapped by 343 Industries to presumably help the studio in developing the multiplayer component for its upcoming Halo game, which was posted an image of his boarding pass to Seattle [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/trailers/7452-Halo-Xbox-One-E3-Teaser-Trailer] where 343 Industries is located and even changed his profile to reflect his new employment.

For those unfamiliar with the pro player, Hewitt helped create the settings for Halo 4's official competitive playlists and also assisted with last year's Halo 4 Global Championships in Austin, Texas, where he worked on rules and settings and did "shoutcasting" for matches. This is not the first time 343 Industries has plucked a pro Halo player to officially join the studio, as it also hired pro players "Dersky" and "Neighbour" last year.

While the next Halo game by 343 is still untitled, this recent hiring should be good news for franchise fans since people who are big-time Halo players can now give their input in the game's production.

In recent Halo news, 343 Industries confirmed that the Xbox One Halo "journey will begin this year." [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131069-Halo-on-Xbox-One-Definitely-Set-for-Release-in-2014]

What would you like to changed in the next Halo's multiplayer? Do you think hiring pro players is the right direction for the studio to take?

Capcom often get professional players in to help out with tweaking their fighting games, and say what you will about them, but Capcom fighters are some of the most popular out there. Don't know how much it contributes to making the games good, but it doesn't seem to be hurting them.
I can see it being a good thing to have a recognized community member working on a game though. Instead of a bunch of developers thinking "They might enjoy this feature", it's probably better to have someone there they can ask and tell them "They will/ will not enjoy this feature".

As enjoyable as capcom fighters are I don't see any pro-payer touches there, most of those games seem streamlined and ridiculously unbalanced.

As for Halo guy I don't think he will do much harm in terms of balance or map design since competitive console FPS is like medicore pc FPS, if anything his feedback might provide some cool MP functions and UI tweaks that can only benefit the community.

Good point. Yes, Capcom's fighters have become better for listening to its fans. Just wondering if we see more and more developers start doing this moving forward.

I wouldn't say no to better UI tweaks, better map balances and such. :) DICE's Battlefield series definitely needs players as employees to tell them when they're about to do something asinine.
