Nokia Pulls PC and Mobiles Together with New Project

A new N-Gage title will converge mobile phones and PCs into one gaming experience.

As part of its efforts to launch a new generation [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/69145-Nokia-Tests-New-N-Gage-Service] of the N-Gage game platform, Nokia is developing a new mobile game that will be interactive with its PC counterpart. Rumored by PocketGamer [http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/N-Gage/Project+White+Rock+(working+title)/news.asp?c=3499], Project White Rock is being developed by developer RedLynx (Pathway to Glory) in Nokia's San Francisco offices. Scott Foe is serving as the project's producer, having previously worked on the first handheld massively-multiplayer online roleplaying game, Pocket Kingdom: Own the World.

Details are scarce, but it has been discovered that Project White Rock is being built using SNAP technology that Nokia purchased from Sega during the Dreamcast era. The PC port of the title will not feature upgraded visuals in comparison to the mobile version so that everyone involved will have a similar experience. When contacted, sources at Nokia confirmed that this report is substantially true.
