That would be a good idea, so long as it's a free download. The idea of making someone pay something for a game that should have been in it from the start would be a dick move... Not that it doesn't happen a lot alreadyDecoy Doctorpus said:Final Fantasy usually has solid voice work, although X's could get more than a little grating at times (but it was otherwise great). That being said I recently saw a download on xbox live that allowed you to change the dialogue language in Fable 2 to English no matter which version of the game you owned, why not do that with a Japanese voice track?
For the record I play most games in Japanese depending on the quality (or lack thereof) of the dub work.
Wait.. what? I guess you read something into what I wrote that wasn't there. I have no idea what you're talking about. It's moot anyway, he already replied and spoke for himself.scotth266 said:Ok, I can understand you calling out Darkrai on that other post, but this is a little uncalled for.runtheplacered said:*applaud* Very good! Seriously, what's with all the weirdos in this topic? Can't Escapists ever just soak in some information without the need to insult somebody or act otherwise ridiculous?
He was making a statement about how he speaks English as his main language, and therefore, would like to hear his game characters speak English too. It's not meant to make anyone mad. You're being offended by a non-existant insult.
And we always act ridiculous. MONKEY-BANANAS! SPLIGGLEFURT! OOZERBAFFLES!
That last one was just for you
I was attempting to defuse what I thought was a potential heated argument in the making via bizzare humor. I was ninja'd by his response.runtheplacered said:Wait.. what? Thanks for acting ridiculous, I guess? Aren't those the names of Harry Potter jellybeans?
right so what do they compress? the sound, makes it sound bad or the graphics, makes them look bad or both, makes the 360 fanboys whine even moreBigeyez said:I call BS on the developer. This reeks of the developer just not wanting to go through the work of compressing the data so it fits on the standard 360 disc. At the end of the say it's definitely not a big deal so meh.
I'd imagine so, but dialogue really isn't that big provided it's compressed properly, the ps2 era Final fantasies managed to fit a lot of dialogue onto a single layer disk, along with all the game assets and movies. The biggest problem I forsee in a PS3 to 360 port is the movies if theyr'e in HD. In which case 360 owners can look forward to a Blue Dragon style 4 disk-a-thon.Indigo_Dingo said:Relatively certain the Final Fantasy XIII has a lot more dialogue than Fable II. I don't see why they can't render them in real time. They have the engine, and the hardware.Indigo_Dingo said:Unless Square Enix decides to make the videos SD to save time and effort on their part.Decoy Doctorpus said:I'd imagine so, but dialogue really isn't that big provided it's compressed properly, the ps2 era Final fantasies managed to fit a lot of dialogue onto a single layer disk, along with all the game assets and movies. You do realize you don't actually have to live in Japan to know the language, right?nova18 said:Wow. So I can can listen to bad voice acting in TWO languages?
Erm... bad luck 360?
I really dont see how this would matter to anyone, nice to see their trying to fill up my Blu Ray but couldnt they give me some extra side quests instead of an option to NOT UNDERSTAND the dialogue?
I can see the fratboys waiting in line for FF XIII now... wait.. no I can't. They're busy queuing for the lastest iteration of Madden.Krakyn said:Oh no! Fratboy weeaboos everywhere will be so disappointed!
Yea the post was necessary in that I was posing the idea that the Final Fantasy series has such poor stories and structure that whether it's available in Japanese or not, it will be just as awful.vivaldiscool said:Soo... was anything in this post really necessary? So you hate fiction and you hate RPGs. (Even though you have no basis for saying that about the combat, since you obviously haven't read anything about the games combat.) you don't have to shove it in our face.beddo said:Considering it's going to be more nonsensical dialogue about some ridiculous future world i can't see the problem.
Moreover, it's just going to be the same old dull RPG format, no real combat despite the immense amount of time battles will take up in the game.
