So yes, if you're one of those types for whom everything is better in Japanese, you might want to start saving up for a PS3. The rest of us will just have to make do with the normal dub acting. The horror!
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Who cares, besides the anime and Japanese culture freaks? The game doesn't change, but you just get to hear poor English voice overs, instead of mellow dramatic Japanese voice overs.
Personally I prefer to listen to the original voice tracks of things rather than the dubbed versions because since I'm not a native speaker for any language's other than english I cannot tell as easily when a person is phoning it in if they're using a different language compared to the English dubs, which I find to range from pretty good (MGS for example)to downright painful to listen to (Skies of Arcadia or Baiten Kaitos) and I prefer not to take chances when the choice is available to me.

Last time I check, I'm American. So I would prefer listening to anime/video games in English instead of reading it. Go Square-enix. For once I'm happy for what you have done.
Eh what?

Why the hell would you be happy SE scrapped Jap. voices as an option for the 360?

I would have loved FF10 if it were'nt for that god awful, b-movie voice overs.
Its a great game, but the lame voices / english scrips ruin the whole experience for me.
FF 12 had much better voicing, but still far from perfect imho.

i mean, try watching dubbed anime, luls? :O

Wow. So I can can listen to bad voice acting in TWO languages?

Erm... bad luck 360?

I really dont see how this would matter to anyone, nice to see their trying to fill up my Blu Ray but couldnt they give me some extra side quests instead of an option to NOT UNDERSTAND the dialogue?
You do realize you don't actually have to live in Japan to know the language, right?
Yeah but it helps.
So I'm shouldnt want to have to learn a whole new language to make the most of something that could have easily been removed to make room for extra GAME?

If the voice acting is as good as DQ8's and FF12's... who cares...
Indeed. I'm fond of Japaese voices just because I like how the language sounds, but if the English is good, it makes no difference to me then.

If it's BAD, however... well, you know the rest.

Meh, if you're a Japenese culture freak then it's most likely you already own a PS3, and porn with tentacles.

Onmi owns all consoles, games from various genres and locations, and listens to his games in whatever language option sounds best, he also happens to watch anime, build models, and watch wrestling. And thinks that everyone is a hypocritical close minded selective memory parasite
You're my kinda guy. Wish there were more people like this.

Oh, and my bad about the theory thing. I got mixed up there. It's a fact.

I only like hearing the songs in Japanese and I have the internet for that. Otherwise, why listen to people talk in a language I don't actually understand? Why is there a big deal out of this...?
Though it is not a big deal, I can understand why people would want it. When I watch anime, I either watch it dubbed in english or in japanese with english subtitles. Usually though whatever I hear first is what I prefer, its only hearing the other it bothers me. For example, Azumanga Daioh, I liked the japanese. Then the english version had Osaka with a southern belle accent (I think Osaka is considered the equivalent of America's south for Japan) and it was annoying. Though had I heard it in english first, I may have preffered it.

Still though, I prefer games to be in english since I am doing more than watching it.

Been watching anime since 1994 here, I can tell ya that most of the "new crowd" who prefers everything in Japanese? They do it because they can't discern the sound of bad Japanese acting from good. FFX's english dub was fine, mainly because the storyline is nothing to be taken very seriously. These days, high profile games are given "above the line" voice acting talent in leading roles... so, you might still find the occasional corny "I'll do my best!" lines verbalized, but that's because nobody could write 60 hours of Shakespeare (and if they could, nobody would listen).
Sometimes it annoys me when people act all superior because they watch/play it in the original Japanese. There have been some absolutely fine English dubs, but my hardcore anime fan friends give me crap about how only the subbed version of ANYTHING Japanese is any good. Akira Kurosawa films I understand but we're talking about a bloody video game!

I understand why not having a Japanese language track for an English speaking market is a big deal. Would the complain in Japan if say a game like Halo 3 didn't include an English language track?
Because dubs are content rape?

You must be the kind of people that listen to dubs in foreign movies...

I never liked Japanese dialogue in games, partially because the female voices are all way too squeaky and the male voices sound overly masculine.

They might just release it as DLC, as it's done in the past with games like Naruto: Rise of a Ninja.

On the other hand, it might be totally unreasonable to do that considering it's likely that there will be waaaaay more dialogue in FFXIII.
