Guinness Readers Say Halo Number One Series Ever

The Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer's Edition is now available, a "gaming bible" packed with all kinds of interesting and largely useless information pertaining to the weird and wonderful world of videogames.

The latest Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition covers games ranging from classic arcade stand-ups to the latest console releases, including the best-selling games of 2009. High score information from Twin Galaxies [http://www.twingalaxies.com/] is included, giving gamers the opportunity to see how they stack up against the world's best, as well as information on how readers can submit their own record-setting scores to Guinness World Records.

Other noteworthy records include the World's Largest Collection of Pokemon Memorabilia (held by Lisa Courtney of the U.K.), the Most Popular Puzzle Game of the Century (probably not the one you think), the most recognizable videogame character of all time (here's a hint: Wokka wokka wokka) and the Number One Videogame Series of All Time, As Voted By Guinness Records Readers. (Spoiler: It's Halo [http://halo.xbox.com/en-us].)

"With huge game releases, big announcements and long-standing records broken, this year has been great for gaming," said Guinness World Records Gaming Editor Gaz Deaves. "The Gamer's Edition 2010 is all about what's great in videogames right now, and gamers of all ages and abilities will find something amazing in the new book, from the casual to the ultra-hardcore."

The Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer's Edition is on sale now [http://www.amazon.com/Guinness-World-Records-Gamers-2010/dp/0744011833/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262724901&sr=8-1] at most U.S. booksellers for an MSRP of $14.99.

Gasp! I didn't know Fozzie Bear was in games!

Wonder if I can find it in the UK...
If not, you can get actual Guinness. Probably better than what we get in the States.

Halo? Hmm. I would brand the series as more "number 2", but hey, each their own...

Any Escapists hold any records?

I was unbeaten in N64 magazine's table for Mario Kart on Moo Moo Farm. Yeah, check me out.

I won't buy this book, because it will not mention Mothers 1 and 2 being the first (and probably the only) RPGs set in modern times.

I remember the one for '08. All I remember from that book was that Twilight Princess was quoted the best Wii game.

Anywho, I'll keep my eyes pealed for this book. If it had a smaller price tag I'd buy it, I'll just do what most people do, borrow it from a friend or just go to a bookstore and camp out and read it.

I found the last edition to be quite comprehensive. I hope the new one has enough new content.

What? Far from the only ones, and they're ancient at this point.

Oh, so it was voted into that position. Well that's okay then, since all that proves is the people casting the ballots were all bloody idiots. What the hell has to be wrong with you to make you think HALO is the number one game series of all time?!!

Thank goodness I don't have any faith in humanity to begin with, as that would have made me lose some for sure.

This sounds a lot like the Spike VGA awards, Halo always wins for no good reason. I have a lot of nasty things to say about Halo, but to not look like a troll I'll just say "Not my cup of tea"

Unfortunately, just by saying you don't like Halo, all of the fanboys will automatically consider that a troll post.

You kinda answered your own question there.

It's not surprising though. Anytime the masses get to vote for anything, the outcome is never good, mostly because the masses are retarded.

It was a rhetorical question, so yes, yes I did.

What a load of crap. but, just like Gildan Bladeborn said, it was voted as being the best series by normal, hum-drum shmoes like you and me, and as such, doesn't mean but so much.

It wasn't a very good one.

Yawn. Last year they did "Best games of all time" (I think(Done by the writers...I think)) which is silly for a book of RECORDS. This year they let the masses do it. Let the established decent gaming sites do the best of lists, go away Guiniess.
