3DS Titles Delayed to "Stay Fresh"

This makes sense to me. The 3DS already has many big titles lined up for the holiday season like Super Mario Land 3D, Mario Kart 7, etc. That if they were to launch all the games they have ready in the pipe line that some would suffer from the over saturated holiday season where as the beginning of next year would be left barren.

Hoooooly crap, are you fucking SERIOUS?

Just go out of business already, I bought the Wii, I bought the 3DS, both were huge disappointments, get your shit together or go bankrupt, this back and forth shit is annoying.

Nintendo just doesn't fucking get it anymore, we buy these systems to play games, and to respond to a lack of games by intentionally delaying games shows they really have completely lost touch of their audience.

Gee Nintendo, we could, I don't know PLAY THEM ONE AT A TIME AS WE FEEL LIKE IT!? What the hell are they afraid of here? That without their guidance we'd try to play all the games at once and stop eating and fucking die? Really shows what they think of their customers, we're not fucking dogs or toddlers Nintendo, we do understand the concept of moderation without you forcing it on us. It's a combination of a lack of faith in their customers, and the staggering arrogance to think that all of them will want to play every single one of those delayed titles, maybe some people only like one or two of them? Did you think of that Nintendo?
excuse me but what you are saying about the wii should have been listed as a personal experience the. wii sold a heck of a lot and the 3DS doesn't really seem that bad I can only guess that it's not selling well because there are already 3 different versions (i'm just waiting for the limited edition themed versions) that you already have by now. that and the lack of games obviously but I think they should at least release one or two of those games soon and not withhold them all

As much as I want to explain to people that the 3DS is incredible for reasons other than the 3D (it's great regardless of that), I do think that the lack of a strong first-party release at startup was it's main reason for underselling expectations. I got it after trying Street Fighter, but with the faith that Nintendo's first party titles would come through. I know they will for those who have a 3DS, and even if it's not doing so hot now(though it's sales are actually not so bad as they're being represented), I bet that the come the Christmas season (the console's first holiday release), it will have a spike. After all, I'd say Christmas tests the true mettle of a console, as that's when the parents of young'uns who can't afford consoles buy them en masse.

Um, doesn't Nintendo already do that? They release something big and great and then activity will flat line until they release something else big and great. In theory, 3rd parties are supposed to fill the void, but good luck making them give the poor thing the time of day.

Now, Nintendo has been pushing a look-at-all-that's-coming platform for months (because marketing "potential" worked so well for PS3 early months). I was really surprised Big Bad Ninty was going to give us a tidal wave of content that would make all that holding back worthwhile. But scary numbers changed their mind and reinforced their tired old method, which makes the wait they put us through a massive waste of time.

Of course the tidal wave they kept promising could have been marketing bunk to begin with. They may have never intended to offer games quickly, but are using fancy words to justify the strategy as if it was a new thing to fix being too bloody arrogant with their market share.

Jeez....I really didn't expect everyone to be so up in arms about such a common business practice.

And it's not like Nintendo's releasing 2 major titles in the next 3 weeks anyway right?

In all honesty, this is how i thing they should have handled the 3DS launch
have made sure there were good games at launch, if Ocarina 3D was there and then they would have made both a pokemon and a kirby specifically for launch that would have been enough to keep people happy until they got out the games we are currently waiting on. (Yes i know that no kirby or pokemon were even planned but tbh those along with zelda could easily sell a handheld.)

The mistake here was believing that launch dates never change, and then crafting a carefully spaced schedule assuming that nothing horribly wrong would happen, including believing that Capcom would not go back on its word, and that most of the developers would not half ass their 3ds releases.

Did they actually listen to those developers who complained about being crushed by Nintendo's games? You know you can't trust those jerks to deliver unless you get proof up front. Developers, you threw away your only chance at redemption, plus it seems like your ports are playing it safe, Nintendo's probably not gonna listen to you in the future...

Mistake #2: putting most of your games near Christmas (despite this actually being counter to your original "strategy"), and not systematically draining their funds anywhere near the Vita launch.

Excuse me what now... Consumer fatigue? Can some economist tell me does this really exist in the digital entertainment industry? Like isn't the it the pro side of the digital entertainment the fact that customer can buy the game when he/she wants and still have it as a fresh experience?.. Like basically on any medium of art/media/entertainment. It is not like cloths, that go out of fashion or something that would rot away... It is not really driven by fads or trends, let alone seasons of the year (summer/winter... etc)...

So did they pull that out of their asses in order to enforce pre-orders or to control the content for the platform... Or something, because it sounds to me it would be a better move to release more content for the audience to buy, than less...

First off, I didn't go out of my way to mention that my personal dislike of the wii is based on personal experience because what else what it be? It's not like there's some metric with which to measure the disappointment caused by a product, of course it's personal experience.

Secondly, I actually agree with you that the 3DS isn't that bad, in fact I think the 3DS is a really great piece of hardware. Unfortunately you can't judge a system independent of the lineup of games it has, since.....you know......it's a game system. The 3DS is like a really awesome car that runs on a fuel that doesn't exist. No matter how awesome that car is, you're not going to be able to get any use out of the damn thing.

Okay, this isn't the stupidest idea in the world; the stupid thing is TELLING PEOPLE YOU'RE DOING IT.

It makes sense to spread out your releases a bit so you don't have to market a handful of games at once and hope everyone either buys all of them or remembers to buy them four months in the future. All of that is fine, but when you tell people that you're choosing to delay finished games, you're basically saying "We're not letting you play this for no reason, hahahahaha"

I know honesty is the best policy and whatnot, but in this case, they should've just kept their mouth shut.
