Fallout 3 Create-A-Perk Contest Winner Selected

Fallout 3 [http://www.bethsoft.com], and it's not you. (Unless you happen to be Marc-Andre Deslongchamps.)

The winner was chosen from over 17,000 entries in an arduous process that automatically eliminated new perks Bethesda has already created, perks that referenced material outside the Fallout world and "about a thousand entries... called Berserk." Of the remaining prospective perks, one grand prize winner, 11 runners up and five random entries were selected.

The winning entry, submitted by Marc-Andre Deslongchamps, is called "Grim Reaper's Sprint," and automatically restores all action points to a player every time he kills an opponent. According to the contest web page, the winner was chosen because "it's elegant and simple, yet turns one of the game's dynamics around to create a new experience. It's the perk we most wanted to pick as players."

Other winning entries include "Crazy Eye" (Opponents attacking from the front suffer a penalty to hit you because, seriously, that eye is freaking me out), "Clumsy Mother" ("Your mother wasn't exactly the most graceful woman in the compound. So by the time you were walking you were dropped on your head... a LOT. As a result, you may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but your noggin is probably the toughest part of your body. -20 intelligence but no extra damage from head shots"), "Kleptomaniac" ("You have the uncontrollable urge to steal from people you talk to. They never notice it, but neither do you! You sometimes end up with their money or items. It's like a disease!") and "You First" ("Through charismatic and dynamic leadership your followers are more inclined to risk their lives for you. This means your followers are more likely to be targeted than you").

Deslongchamps, of Montreal, Canada, took home the PC Grand Prize for his entry, which includes gaming hardware and Fallout 3 swag, and will also have his entry included in the upcoming post-apocalyptic RPG. Prizes awarded to other entrants include video cards from Fallout 10th Anniversary Contest page [http://www.ati.com].
