Artist Puts Resident Evil in Your Street Fighter

A Capcom fan with bags of artistic talent has given the Street Fighter universe a dose of the T-Virus.

Fan art tends to come in two flavors: Really awful and really awesome. Fortunately, artist Manuhell [http://manuhell.cghub.com/] is firmly in the second camp and has created a series of artwork showing Street Fighter characters with a dash of Resident Evil for our delectation.

As well as zombie Cammy - which was inspired in part by Melinda Clarke's character in Return of the Living Dead 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Return-Living-Dead-Melinda-Clarke/dp/B00005LQ0Z/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1278962261&sr=1-1] - there's zombie versions of Ibuki [http://cghub.com/images/view/56672/] and Ryu [http://cghub.com/images/view/56683/] as well as Licker/Blanka hybrid [http://cghub.com/images/view/56671/] and more besides.

This kind of fan art is one my favorite things about gaming - except for the actual games themselves, of course - and Manuhell's is some of the best I've seen. It's really great to see someone using gaming as the inspiration for something creative, especially when the end result looks so good.

Best of all, apart from just looking nice, it fires the imagination for other Capcom mash-ups; how does Dead Rising starring Mega Man sound, or an Ace Attorney game with Devil May Cry's Dante as the main character?

Manuhell's full gallery, which touches on elements of gaming and other elements of geek culture pretty often, can be seen here. [http://manuhell.cghub.com/]

That is some kick ass stuff, I really like the zombie Blanka since it sort of reminds me of Venom ahahah.

That Ryu pick remindes me of something out of Sonny (the flash game, FYI)

Anybody else with me on that?

Hmmm, well to be honest I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand it's interesting because of the fact that we have had Capcom universes unofficially crossover before. Not just Marvel Vs. Capcom games with a lot of Capcom game universes represented, but also with hidden characters present in say Resident Evil 2 (some will know what I'm talking about). Looking at games like "Cross Edge" which featured Dark Stalkers characters, it would be sort of interesting to see some things done in that direction officially.

My feelings are mixed hoever because to some extent this feels more influanced by "Marvel Zombies" which seems to have lead to a massive interest in "hey let's make all these popular franchise characters into zombie, or horror themed forms". This is not to say that Marvel did it first, but they did do it fairly successfully. I also happen to feel that the whole "Marvel Zombies" idea was incredibly banal and poorly conceived/written. Sadly inspiring things like we see above, albeit this artist is much better than most.

I guess what I'm saying is that it would be more awesome if he worked on other things. I have a hard time getting all excited by the idea of "OMG it's Street Fighter 2 characters except as zombies!" maybe a few years ago I would have reacted differantly.

Apologies to anyone that offends.

Its definitely great art. I have mixed opinions on it, like why do this anyway? And yet I love the pictures. He certainly has a lot of talent.

Great stuff!
The artist has some real skill... but (there's always a 'but') the whole zombie thing has been done to death so it's not really that creative and the 'zombie' Ibuki just looks like a green Ibuki.
Just saying. The technique is impeccable, though.

Nice artwork! I've enjoyed both the Resident Evil and Street Fighter series since I was younger, so it's interesting to see a combination of the two.
