Infinity Ward Loses More Staff

Two more key staff members have left the Call of Duty developer in the wake of the firing of Jason West and Vince Zampella.

Infinity Ward lead designer Todd Alderman and lead software engineer Francesco Giglotti have left the company, after more than eight and seven years respectively. Their departure was discovered after the pair updated their LinkedIn pages and it is currently unclear what circumstances they left the company under.

We do know that there were some job cuts in the recent - and very quiet - Activision reshuffle last month [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/99586-Activision-Blizzard-Restructures-15-Jobs-Lost], which may explain their departure, but sources close to the pair say that they resigned. Whatever the reason, we wish them all the luck in the world for their future endeavors.

Oh dear. I think Activision will definitely want to keep it on the down-low that they're hemorrhaging their Call Of Duty dream team.

Makes a lot of sense....

Lose all the staff on your most successful titles. Especially as they hapily toed the line and released a very shortened product.

I just bought BF2, and I like it better anyway, HELICOPTERS AND ENGINEERS FTW!

Really my attitude to this is a resounding 'meh'. I think it's disgraceful that they still don't have their royalties, but I don't have any particular loyalties to Infinity Ward or the people who work there.

The Infinity Ward I knew is dead. Seriously, loved their games (multiplayer wise, story needs work in MW2) but yeah.... no more COD games for me (even though I only ever bought 2)

Id like to know if they were fired or if they left...
"Infinity Ward employees dont like Infinity Ward Games. Move to better company."
Or
"Infinity Ward employees fired, because despite the money they claim to be making off CoD, they still need to fire people."

I have an odd sense of humor ok.

I feel oddly indifferent to this.

I do love it, but I'm starting to crave a bit more variety, maybe not new maps, but a couple new multiplayer game modes would really go a long way

Makes sense that they would quit of their own accord (no pun intended), and not be forced out by Activision. As soon as the hull springs a leak, the crew goes scrambling for the life rafts...

Yay, no more Call Of Duty clogging the shelves!

And for Call of Duty fans, think of it this way. Now the series can end on a (allegedly) high note with 6.

I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of me frying somebody's brains with a defibrillator.

On Topic: I wonder if these guys are going to get 5 articles dedicated to them as well.

As if Activision didn't own the rights to the CoD franchise and didn't already have 3 studios working on new CoD games...

At this point, I think Treyarch might just breathing a collective sigh of relief. Now they're the top CoD studio (pending IW's inevitable collapse).
