Update: TGC '10: Triphop Remix of TV News Interview with Alex Macris

CEO and Publisher of The Escapist, Alexander Macris, was interviewed by News 14 Carolina at this year's Triangle Game Conference and predicted great things for the game industry this year.

Update: Everyone in the office thought that Alex Macris' interview on TV was pretty cool, but George Palmer made it that much cooler by adding a triphop beat and mixing in the other interviews. Grab your glow stick and watch for trails as the musical stylings of DJ P'L Mer wash over you. If only T. Pain was available for some autotune goodness, then this track would be perfect.

The Triangle Game Initiative [http://www.trianglegameconference.com/], Alex Macris knows how the area is booming and that it will only get bigger in 2010.

"It's a growth sector for technology and as we start to see things like social network games on Facebook, immersive learning that uses game technology, training programs for doctors and soldiers, all these technologies are all being powered by video games," Macris told News 14 Carolina.

The Triangle area is a big part of that growth, and with so many young people attending the conference to network and meet prospective employers, Macris' prediction that more game industry jobs will be available this year seems to be a foregone conclusion.

The Triangle Game Conference continues today and The Escapist will be covering more panels and discussions with industry figures.

Calumon: If he's See-ee-oh, why does he not talk to us at all? Bobb-ee Koo-tick keeps talking to us, but I think he's annoying.

EDIT:

Yea the casual game market is expanding but I think the game industry as we know it is shrinking.

Most of the people that I know who have a ps2 still haven't taken the next gen leap and it doesn't seem like they ever will. I can't say I blame them; all the consoles and games are considerably more expensive than they were last generation and they're all lackluster in one way or another.

Mind you, I don't think this is a bad thing. On the contrary, it be best for gamers if the current brands all went under.

I hope to Anoia that this is a predicted growth for the industry as a whole, not just around the US East Coast. I'm coming to the end of my second year of university now, hoping to do a four year course (default is three years), and when I graduate I want to join one of the bigger UK companies like Rockstar Leeds, or Lionhead, or Codemasters, as a level designer preferably. So more jobs being made available now is a huge boost to me. Especially since my graduation in one or two years will be coming at the time when we'll hopefully start to see a return to the sort of economic growth that we had before the whole credit crunch and global recession. So there should be more jobs opening around then anyway, with any luck.

Hopefully I'll manage to get something. Ah well, if not then I can always make it in video game journalism. I'll move to the USA and spam Themis Media for a job at the Escapist until I get one ;D.

Oh, you guys think I'm kidding, right? Hahaha, just you wait. Greg, I'm gunning for your job especially... ;)

LMAO. At least I wasn't auto-tuned.

Now if someone will do a Rebecca Mayes Muses mix on this I'd be really impressed.
