Midway Lays Off Some Austin Staffers
Chicago-based videogame developer Midway announced staff layoffs at its Austin branch, downplaying the firings as routine.
"There was a minor layoff in our Austin studio following the completion of a project there," a Midway representative told indsutry publication GamesIndustry.biz.
However, the move followed the resignations of Thomas Powell and Steve Allison, the chief financial officer and senior vice president of the company, respectively.
Nonetheless, the Midway official said staff at other teams were increasing on an as-needed basis.
"We are still growing our other teams and studios to fulfill our project needs. The reductions were routine and a function of our current project requirements."
