I wanted to do this for a long time so now i'm doing it
Keep in mind:English is not my main language so you may excuse if i repeat myself or if i have spelling errors,there are a few Spoilers and also this is my first review ever
First the characters
Trilby:He is mysterious and cunning with a peculiar attitude,stealthy and capable and he is great for a main character
Simone Taylor:She is smart and a journalist that wants to be famouse
Philip Harty:He is a treasure hunter he is suspicious and lacks of morals
James Fowler:He is a teenager that isn't too much developed but he is always trying to help
AJ:The most misterious character in the game he appears for a brief moment and then he disappears
The Story:
All these people get trapped in a mansion where they are trying to escape,i like the idea of putting 5 strangers in a house when noone knows anything about each other.
At first i though that AJ was the one that was keeping them in the mansion but then he gets killed,Trilby is the one who founds him in the pool,at that moment each character is concerned because they don't know who was the killer leaving the player and characters in suspense.
That's when trilby tries to find out who is the killer and he discovers the story of the mansion,the wife of the owner of the mansion had 2 children,when the second child was born,his wife died during childbirth so he put the second child in the basement because he blames him for the death of his wife,later on he kills the child with a wooden idol so the soul of the child gets trapped in the idol.
In the mansion Trilby touches the idol with his bare hands so the spirit of the child gets inside his body controlling him for a short period of time,during that time he kills Philip and he is blamed for the death so simone puts him in a shelter,Trilby escapes from the shelter and simone finds out the truth,in the end they exorcise the spirit of the child and the whole mansion catches fire and Trilby,Simone and james escape.
Aspects:
The game has a great atmosphere there are sounds of footsteps and doors making squeaky noises also there is whispering sometimes you hear it while playing the game.The music is great,sometimes it cuts while moving to different areas but over all its really good.During the game there are some dream sequences that are very well made giving it a great chilling effect,there are some easter eggs and movie references that makes the game more enjoyable.The commentary in the especial edition is hilarious it makes fun of certain parts in the game it's shows some easter eggs it explains various things in the story and how he made various animations and what things he didn't like about the game
Gameplay:
Is an average point n click adventure so there is not much to say about
Graphics:
For an AGS game the graphics are great very well detail and the animation is fluent except the last part
Final Veredict:
I like the story,the characters and the overall design so i give it four stars out of five 4/5 check it out.
