Next, you really need to do a list of Top 5 Sean Bean deaths.
No sarcasm, that should be the next Top 5 list you do.
Or at some point.
Please?

I'd vote for when the Tachikoma sacrifice themselves in both Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Solid State Society. Every time I watch those parts, I literally tear up. If that purity of devotion and selflessness doesn't get to you, consider yourself a sociopath.

What an awful list. I'll give you T2 and Boromir but that's it. I don't know why people always use Aliens as an example for a meaningful death of a character. And Jaws? You seriously couldn't have come up with something better? Oh, and fuckin' Leonidas. What a deep, well rounded character he was...How about that little movie called The Green Mile? Or Blade Runner? Or The Wrath of Khan?

While I don't think the list itself was awful, it didn't even occur to me that those great death scenes should have been on it. AND THEY SHOULD HAVE. And speaking of great Rutger Hauer deaths, did anyone else see Hobo with a Shotgun?

I think it might be a generational thing or some pop culture thing: the movies on the list are still quite popular while other, better examples are less known to today's internet crowd. Especially since Leonidas and Boromir had basically the same death scene and have both made for some annoying meme fodder. While I'm not saying it should have been on the list, I was surprised I didn't see Harry Stamper from Armageddon.

I totally explain in the first part of the 5th movie why The Wrath of Khan wasn't chosen. To be fair I only refer to it as Spock's death, but the idea is the same.

Who the fuck is Borman? Is that some sort of joke I don't get or do you mean Gorman?
I was just being mean to him because he was so terrible. So utterly utterly terrible. Then he exploded

That is a bit mean. He was an inexperienced staff officer, yeah he screwed up in combat, but he wasn't dick about it, he did apologise and then went back for Vasquez when she was injured. He had redeeming qualities, he was just very green, which the film made a point showing.

okay, so i've not bothered reading many of these pieces, just because the concept isn't very interesting to me, but now i'm glad, because the one time you could have related to me, with the manliest death scenes, you left out Braveheart. FUCKING BRAVEHEART. one of two movies that has ever made me shed a tear (the other being big fish) right at the end. there is nothing more manly than being tortured and mutilated and when they tell you to beg for mercy, you shout "FREEDOM!" fucking beautiful, dude.

I am fucking shocked. One of these lists that are actually GOOD? The best thing on The Escapist in years. Of course there are some that have been left out, but I can understand because you only had 5 slots. Someone already mentioned Braveheart, now I have to mention Armageddon. The way Harry pushes AJ away to take the death for him, then the way he says goodbye to his daughter, and even the last few seconds before he pushes that button... Nothing but fucking tears and testosterone, man.

Not a bad list!

One I personally tend to get misty at is in "The Last Of The Mohicans" (1992), when the lady watches her man get bled out, and then jumps off the cliff. I'm also well aware that that might be the basest way I could have described that scene, but her refusal to give in to her captors, mixed with her broken heart, make me the strangest combination of proud and solemn.
