The New and Improved Community Tab Now Live

Thanks to some great ideas from our community members, we have restructured the Community Page to focus more on what makes The Escapist so amazing: you!

Our community members are incredibly important to us, so we've given the Community Page a face-lift to help us focus more on you. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be rolling out new content exclusively for community members.

The revived Community Page will be continually populated with interesting discussion topics, events, contests and content you will definitely want to participate in. What it won't have are items from The Escapist homepage.

This page is a place for all of us to come together and we want to provide the best experience possible. In order to accomplish this, we will have a "Submission Box" question every week that will provide the ability to share your ideas. This idea could one day occupy a colorful space on the Community Page!

The IRC box no longer seems to be on there, how is this an improvement when it was the quickest way to access it? To be honest apart from finding users it was the only reason I went onto that section. Birthdays also seem to be missing.

If anything, this seems a lot less community based now.

We are going to try and bring a lot more great stuff to the community in the near future, so this is where we start.

The Twitter box is weird... WHy are the times in USA time? Shouldn't it adjust to local time, like forum posts?

Sure does. We'll be tweaking it in certain aspects over a period of time to try to put as much great stuff in one spot as possible.

Heh, it wasn't in US time, it was actually 4 hours off for everyone equally. Double timezone localization. That should be fixed now

What is missing is the ability to select from a list of owned/liked games in the profile. Then you build a database of which kinds of games people will like based on these selections and suddenly you have an awesome game recommendation service, like Pandora or Jinni.
