PopCap Joins Acme Mobile For Major Southeast Asia Push


Acme Mobile [http://www.popcap.com/]that will make its games available to over 250 million mobile subscribers in the region.

The casual gaming giant will utilize Acme's online and mobile presence to bring its catalog of games to customers in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. James Gwertzman, vice president of PopCap's Asia-Pacific operations, said, "Acme Mobile's unique combination of its Amob.com [http://www.amob.com/sg/en/] direct consumer channels, carrier connections and regional marketing expertise make them a perfect partner for PopCap. We decided to enter Southeast Asia in a big way, with a strong partner who could quickly help us build our mobile brand, and we found that partner in Acme Mobile."

PopCap's Director of Asia-Pacific Business Development Giordano Contestabile praised Acme Mobile's for the speed in which PopCap was able to get its games, advertising campaigns and promotions rolled out over numerous individual channels, and said, "We look forward to working with Acme to help make PopCap's titles the best-selling casual mobile games in Southeast Asia."

It's not overreaching to start looking at PopCap as a viable contender for a top spot in the industry alongside EA and Acti-Blizz.

No, it is not. And this is precisely why the concerns of the "hardcore" demographic increasingly fall on deaf ears. The future of gaming is my mom.

True. At least PopCap's foundation in the hardcore scene is solid -- they're one of the few casual companies working hard to bridge the gap between the gamers of old (who are still young) and the next generation (your mom).
