A 60 GB Xbox 360?

A British gaming publication claims it has been informed by a reliable source that a 60 GB Xbox 360 is on the way.

Trustedreviews.com advised its readers recently, "Microsoft WILL be replacing the 20 GB hard drive on the standard Xbox 360 with a larger 60 GB version. ... If you've been saving up for a 20 GB Xbox 360, hold off. The 60 GB model IS coming and you can take this exclusive to the bank."

360 Premium users have been stuck with an anemic 20 GB hard drive since launch (or no HD in the Core version) that cannot be replaced by the end user. Alternatives are shelling out $180 for a 120 GB drive or buying a $450 black Elite console.

The PS3 boasts 40 GB and 80 GB models and compatibility with 2.5" (laptop-sized) hard drives.

The gamespot source does not mention the misleading part of this article.

The bit about not being able to replace the 20 GB hard-drive, nor the inflamatory "anemic" description. Any 360 can have the 20 gig or 120 gig drive fitted at any point, because it is an *external* drive. You can even upgrade from a 20gig to an 120gig, and the transfer kit will copy the contents over for you.

I loose respect for any journalist that lets their bias and lack of knowledge taint an otherwise interesting story.

Yeah..the source failed to mention about the EASE of upgrading the hard drive on the 360..

I went from a 20GB to a 120GB (and it's the black one)..infact I spent right about $80 for the 120GB one because I used Amazon.com and looked for it under Used and New section.

Im going to still save up and get another 360..One I'll leave in the box just in case my current one dies. I'm on my 2nd 360.
I've installed a few games, downloaded some expansion packs, downloaded some tv show episodes and IMO I prefer installing games that I know I'm going to play on a regular basis..such as Vegas 2 and COD4.

Question! Is the 60 GB hard drive going to be released alongside a console, or just sold separately?

I think people would be more inclined to buy a 60 GB hard drive $90 than a 120 GB hard drive for $180.

Well, this certainly looks promising. I just hope they're giving us the option to buy just the 60 GB hard drive as opposed to the console AND the hard drive.
