Steam's got a special offer for all you Monkey Island fans: pre-order the special edition of Monkey Island 2, earn a free copy of the first game.

will receive a free copy of the original Monkey Island: Special Edition.

While this may not be much of an incentive for someone who already downloaded the original Monkey Island, there's another option available. You can gift the game to someone else on Steam, which could then create a new Guybrush Threepwood fan who might pre-order Monkey Island 2 and then start the cycle over again.

Monkey Island: Special Edition is currently selling for $9.99, the exact same price as Monkey Island 2 is going for, so this is a pretty solid deal for anyone who's been meaning to play the remastered games but hasn't gotten around to it yet.

I understand MI2 has audio commentary though, which could be really interesting, and with MI being thrown in for free I decided to buy it on the spot.
