Nintendo and BBC Partner Up for Wii Broadcasts

Nintendo UK has inked a deal with the BBC to bring the latter's content to the Wii.

The new agreement will see the creation of a Wii portal that will feature headlines and video content from the BBC.

A beta version of the service is out for those with an iPlayer license and the BBC said the channel will evolve throughout the year.

"Working with Nintendo marks another exciting milestone for BBC iPlayer," Erik Huggers, the BBC's Group Controller for Future Media and Technology, said. "It underlines our commitment to reaching new audiences by making BBC iPlayer available on as many platforms as possible."

Not likely to be seen as a competitor to the much more robust video download options on the PS3 and 360, a deal with a major media corporation nonetheless adds extra functionality for Wii users.
