Red Dead Redemption TV Movie Saunters to XBLA , PSN
Good news for all you Red Dead Redemption fans: The TV movie that Fox aired in May is now free to download on XBLA and PSN.
Back in May, Fox and Rockstar teamed up to deliver a <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100935-Red-Dead-Redemption-Animated-Film-Coming-This-Weekend>30-minute film created from <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Red-Dead-Redemption-Xbox-360/dp/B001SH7YMG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1280948193&sr=8-2>Red Dead Redemption cutscenes (with some gameplay footage mixed in for dramatic effect) to tell the story of the game's first act. The result was a surprisingly decent short film, showcasing John Marston's hunt for Bill Williamson, and now the video is available for download on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. The best part of this news is that the movie's completely free.
If you're still planning to play the Red Dead Redemption, you might want to hold off on seeing the movie since it acts as a spoiler to a large part of the game's story. That said, if you don't care about such things, there are worse ways to spend a half hour of your time then watching Marston recruit a posse to take down Williamson's hideout/fortress in a final shootout.
Of course, the story differs at the end of the film from that of the game, since scenes from a few (very) different missions were spliced together to create the final moments of the movie. That Rockstar is letting gamers download this for free is pretty cool. While the developer hasn't announced any other such movie projects in the future, one has to wonder if similar movie projects are in the works.
