UK Records Highest First Quarter Game Sales
Britain's video game industry raked in record first quarter software sales as retailers moved nearly 18 million units.
The GBP 418.4 million figure, provided by Chart-Track analysts, illustrates an almost one-third improvement year-on-year.
"We are thrilled to see the industry continue to grow at such a rapid rate and videogame sales continuing to rise," said Paul Jackson, director general of ELSPA.
Nintendo was the key beneficiary of the sales, seizing a 37-percent share, with its family friendly titles taking the lead.
"This period has seen more innovative and family-friendly titles doing well and it is clear that consumers of all ages have been lining up to buy them," Jackson added.
