S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky Gets New Publisher

GSC Game World's [http://www.deepsilver.co.uk/welcome.htm] S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky in North America.

Founded in 2002, Deep Silver's previously published titles include S.T.A.L.K.E.R. [http://www.gothic3.com/index.php?do=097099116105111110061108097110103117097103101038108097110103061101110103038112114101118112097103101061115116097114116112097103101046112104112038112114101118115099101110101061] last year.

"As GSC holds the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. IP we were in position to negotiate the publishing deal for Clear Sky," said Oleg Yavorsky, senior P.R. manager at GSC Game World. "Although the intention was there, in the long run we couldn't find agreement with THQ [http://www.thq.com/]to continue with publishing of Clear Sky."

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky [http://www.stalker-game.com/clearsky/index_en.html] is a prequel to last year's hit FPS, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, set one year prior to the original game. It will feature both levels from the original game remade to reflect the differences in the earlier days of the Exclusion Zone, as well as brand new areas to explore. An updated version of the game engine will include DirectX 10 support for even more advanced visual effects. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is currently set for release on August 29.

August 29... that makes me sad! What happened to Q1 2008? Oh well, better for them to work out the bugs BEFORE releasing it, I suppose. Glad they found a publisher that won't try to bend them over a table at every opportunity.
