Dragon Age Ultimate Edition Misplaces an Expansion on Its Way to Europe

If you've picked up the PS3 version of Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition, and you're in Europe, you're not getting everything that you paid for.

European PS3 Owners who have grabbed the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age: Origins [http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Age-Origins-Ultimate-Playstation-3/dp/B0045ZIEPY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1288632101&sr=8-2 ] over the last few days have found that the game contained much less Ostagar than it should should, after an error resulted in BioWare leaving the Return to Ostagar DLC off the disk.

Writing on the BioWare forums [http://social.bioware.com/forum/Dragon-Age-Origins/Dragon-Age-Origins-Playstation-3-Technical-Support/European-Ultimate-Edition-and-Return-to-Ostagar-DLC-issue-5138725-1.html], Dragon Age producer Fernando Melo apologized for the error and said that while the Return to Ostagar pack was listed on the disk, the content was actually for something else. He said that anyone who had been affected by it should contact EA to get the Return to Ostagar pack added to his or her EA account, and then download the missing content via the PSN store. Melo made it clear that the error only applied to European copies of the game, identified by a product code on the starting with "BLES," then followed by a number printed on the spine of the game box, and said that the North American version worked fine.

While this is obviously an embarrassing error for BioWare and EA, at least it's something that was could be fixed relatively easily. Of course, anyone whose PS3 isn't hooked up to the internet is going to have a tricky time getting the content he or she is missing, especially if the reason behind the purchase of the Ultimate Edition was to get the DLC he or she couldn't obtain any other way.

Not like Return to Ostagar is anything to cry about, but I'm glad they're at least trying to fix it.

"Hey, Bob, what's this content sitting next to the shipping boxes here"?
"Oh, that's the expansion for Dra-oh crap".

This might be my inner BioWare fanboy speaking, but I'm not really upset. At all, in fact. Sure, they fucked up, and someone should be punished. But at least they're coming clean and trying to make good on it.

It's PS3, they'll all be too occupied with FIFA 11 anyway.
Im not quite sure what to make off that but Im going for some Xbox fanboy gibberish.

However, Im not massively upset, I want these expansions and Im planning to buy the ultimate edition but I can easily download the expansion pack off PSN. Upsetting for people who cant get it but Its only one little add-on, the rest of the Ultimate Edition should take up time without it.

Great, first they force us to fork out £32 on Awakening, then make it impossible for us to register said expansion on their website, and now this... I'm beginning to think BioWare and EA aren't fully committed to us European PS3 players.

That is what you get for buying Dragon Age on a console.
Heh, my thoughts exactly. Least they've made sure it's possible to fix.

Wish I was a European PS3 player. I'd sue Bioware for false advertising so damn fast. I'm surprised it makes no mention of anyone doing that, does Europe not have a law for that ?

You'd sue them for that?

Well yeah why not. If it said on the disc "includes Return to Ostagar expansion", I bought it, and it did not have the promised DLC. I would immediately get in touch with a lawyer.

Well, because it's kind of a douchebag thing to do. Suing a company over a $4 DLC is just greedy and a waste of time.

No, cheating people out of what they've paid for is a douchebag and greedy thing to do. And the settlement from the lawsuit would make it well worth the time.

Irregardless of how much it costs it's not just an "error" it's illegal.

They may be trying to fix it but honestly what else can they do ? Say they intentionally didn't include it, and have no intention of compensating the customer ? The court would hit them so damn hard it almost wouldn't be funny.
