New Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Trailer Hints at Mutant Zombies

[gamespot=6285475]

It's got a clone, some underpants, and a big floating head. It must be another Marvel vs. Capcom 3 [http://www.amazon.com/Marvel-vs-Capcom-Worlds-Xbox-360/dp/B003IE9V28/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1292530835&sr=8-2] trailer.

The third MvC 3 story trailer gives another glimpse at some the odd partnerships and equally odd rivalries that the game does so well. This time round, one of the most dangerous mutants in the Marvel universe helps himself to a fine Umbrella vintage, much to the chagrin of its previous owners.

The trailer opens with Resident Evil's Chris Redfield bursting in on his long time foe Albert Wesker, who has teamed up with the villainous flying head MODOK. Wesker holds up a metal briefcase, which all of a sudden begins to move and tear, seemingly of its own accord. It only takes a moment for the real culprit to show himself however, as Magneto tries to take the contents of the case - an vial of orange fluid marked with a biohazard symbol - for his own.

Chris wasn't so foolhardy that he confronted Wesker alone however, and his backup - Arthur and X-23 - leap into action. Unfortunately, Arthur's armor and X-23's adamantium claws prove to be more of a hindrance than a help against the master of magnetism, who flings the pair backwards. Arthur is able to save himself by getting out of his armor, but X-23 doesn't have the luxury of just dumping her metal items. Luckily, the timely intervention of the Hulk stops her from slamming into the wall.

The trailer ends with Magneto's fingers closing around the vial, with a steely determination in his eyes. As the briefcase belonged to Wesker, it's a pretty safe bet that its contents are a virus that will have some adverse effect on human biology, and that Magneto plans to use it to further his pro-mutant agenda. I'm assuming that these trailers have something to do with the MvC 3's story mode, and aren't just something that Capcom is throwing together for fun, so we should be able to learn the details of Magneto's nefarious scheme when the game comes out next year.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 comes out for PS3 and Xbox 360 on Febraury 15th.

I wonder if they'll give C Viper new moves or just make them flashier like they do with most SF characters in the MvC series

Looks awesome.

Kinda reminds me of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl Subspace Emissary (that's a mouthfull). The way that all the good guys kinda nod at each other then team up.

Are you going by the Twitter account, because honestly I don't believe it. It said there would be no Mega Man. Obvious blatant lies.

They could have picked Rufus or Abel. That would have been WAY worse than C. Viper.
I would have preferred if they had picked someone interesting like Cammy, Yun, Yang, El Fuerte, Rolento (one of the most demanded characters for DLC for SSFIV) or Dan Hibiki.

Perhaps they needed someone as the Umbrella stand in as all the other ones are either dead or zombified before they meet any resident evil protagonist, in which case theyre still dead.

And is it me or did MODOK get taken out in the trailer?

Then again depending on who gets the plauge and what strain it is that could produce some very intresting boss fights. Unless its Wesker of course.

Also thinking of Marvel Zombie the premise of a zombie apocalypse in this game is kind of odd because Magneto was the only one of 2 characters in the Marvelverse able to resist the zombie plauge, and by that i mean notice in time to do anything about it. The other was Doom, and he was infected anyway but holding back the zombism with sheer willpower, while quarantining his own fictional country. To me, that theyre even working with Wesker means they intend to backstab him.

And for those who dont know, in Marvel Zombie all normal humans died, and all other super heros and villans including gods (Thor) and galactic superbeings (Sentinel) became zombies. Albeit some special exceptions;

Galactus got zerg rushed by every zombie villan and hero and was comsumed entirely. Zombies gained interdimensional travel out of it and allowed the series to become even more twisted.

Dormammu had essentially been kicked out of the marvel continuity by Doctor Strange before Strange's comic was cancelled. Scince then Dormammu has only done non-canon appearances, mostly in several animated series and mini series as a Sealed Evil in a Can.

Afterthought: While, on paper at least, this could be a pretty good story, we need to keep in mind that Capcom dont have their rep for making good stories. Resident Evils getting to Metal Gear levels of overwriting and plot holes, and unlike Metal Gear, its still hasnt had a difinitive end. I know Weskers dead and all but with zombies chopping the head doesnt mean the body stops moving.

I thought the MVC3 director said there would be no zombies/Nemesis/Tyrant business because it would raise the age rating?

I guess it's safe to assume that Wesker is going to be a playable character.
