Tomb Raider Trilogy Gives Players Three Crofts on One Disc

Lara Croft's past few adventures are soon to be bundled on a single Blu-ray disc.

Perhaps in an attempt to whet gamer's appetites for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/105937-New-Tomb-Raider-Raider-Reboot-Details-Emerge], Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that a Tomb Raider collection is coming to the PlayStation 3. It'll include three of Lara Croft's adventures on one Blu-ray disc.

A listing for the Tomb Raider Trilogy first popped up on Amazon Germany [http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B004GKDFOS?ie=UTF8&tag=gamefrontde-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1638&creative=6742&creativeASIN=B004GKDFOS]. Afterward, Crystal Dynamics' Global Brand Director Karl Stewart confirmed that the Trilogy was real on Twitter by posting: Yes, it's official. Tomb Raider PS3 'Trilogy' pack coming in the new year. Full details next week. Watch this space."

The Tomb Raider Trilogy will include Tomb Raider: Underworld [http://www.amazon.com/Tomb-Raider-Anniversary-Xbox-360/dp/B000UZVLBW/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1292829658&sr=1-2]. All have been released on current generation platforms, with Underworld already available on the PS3, but the Trilogy will reportedly add trophy support in addition to other features and bonuses such as unique avatars for PlayStation Home.

The titles included have been given fair to decent reviews. Thankfully, Crystal Dynamics chose not to include stinker Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness [http://www.amazon.com/Tomb-Raider-Angel-Darkness-Playstation-2/dp/B00006BMQB/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1292830021&sr=8-3].

According to Amazon Germany, the Trilogy is planned for release (in Europe) on March 22, 2011, and will be priced at €29.99 ($39.50). As Stewart tweeted, more details are expected soon.

Yay? I don't know...Never got into Tomb Raider. My Paternal DNA donor was obsessed with her...Had posters of her everywhere and always talked about how hot she was. Maybe that's what ruined it for me.

Yay, you can get three critically acclaimed titles on one disc. Finally I have a reason for buying a PS3.
Wait, what's that you say? Those games weren't critically acclaimed? They were... generally considered to be pretty boring?

Well, dress me in hotpants and shove a gun up my holster. Seems I won't be getting this then.

You can buy all three games separately for about £15-20 second hand, so what's the point?

Why are they re-releasing the shit new ones? I want Tomb Raider 1 and 2 back! I want to be able to lock Lara's gormless butler in the freezer again!

Fair enough, got a decent price for the entire trilogy - if I was a Tomb Raider fan, I would probably buy it - but I actually despise Tomb Raider, I find it a very uninteresting game. Fair enough if you like the series though!

EDIT:

This trilogy would cost less.

I might get it.

I liked the demos for Underworld and Legend, but never got around to buying them. And I love me some trophies.

Aww...slightly disapointed that they haven't thought about releasing a Tomb Raider Collection made up from the PS1 classics in HD like they've done with God of War and Sly Cooper, but I guess it's Edios's choice...EDIT: Sorry Square-Enix's choice...

Good none the less though. I still need to play Guardian of Light...

You are in for a nice surprise! Unless you go for 100%, which will KILL you thanks to the time trials.

Did you ever play the PS1 Tomb Raider games on a PC? They were ugly at 640x400, why would bumping them up to 1280×720 or 1920x1080 make them look any better?

In any event, this is awesome, I love those games. March will be a busy month!

Legend and Anniversary were never on PS3, just PS2. 360 has had the games for quite some time, hence they don't need this thing.

Also joy. More PS2 games. I'm glad this is what I bought a PS3 to play.

I was hoping for remakes with updated graphics and little else changed, myself. It doesn't help that I read "It'll include three of Lara Croft's adventures on one Blu-ray disc" as "It'll include all three of Lara Croft's adventures on one Blu-ray disc," implying that they were wiping out the disappointments since the third one. The first few Tomb Raider games were some of the best games around at the time, and it's a shame that the series has fallen so far since then.

That's great, yay, Tomb Raider Trilogy all on one disc and for cheaper than buying separately, that's great, whoopee.

Now, all I want for Christmas/Hanukkah/whateverthehell are any of the following, in order from most wanted to least wanted (but still goddam wanted);

Jak & Daxter collection
Ratchet & Clank collection
Metal Gear Solid collection
Kingdom Hearts collection
Dark Cloud collection
SSX collection
Any other collection.

If you supply these collections to me and my fellow gamers, I will love you forever.

Please Sony/Naughty Dog/Insomniac/Konami/Squeenix/Level-5/EA Big, make our holiday complete.
