Video of a Nintendo 3DS Leaked from Production Line

A copy of the Nintendo 3DS was swiped from a Chinese factory and video of the new handheld has made its way around the Internet.

I don't know about you, but the product that I'm most looking forward to in 2011 is the Nintendo 3DS. Since joining the ranks of the game journo elite, I've considered purchasing a handheld gaming system but always came to the same conclusion: the 3DS is coming out and it makes such a leap in technology that only makes sense to wait. Since I was able to salivate over the deliciously three dimensional images displayed in my hands at E3 2010 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101379-E3-2010-Hands-on-With-the-Nintendo-3DS] (with no glasses!) the 3DS has been a no-brainer purchase for me. And with these videos of its size and scope from a unit reportedly nicked off the assembly line of a Chinese manufacturing plant, the 3DS still looks like it will not disappoint. The 3DS will be available in Japan on February 26th, but there is no word yet on when it release for the rest of the world.

Well, there's no actual game footage. When the person(s) shooting the video pop in a DS cartridge of Super Mario 64, the device just pops up a debug message. But it does seem to be a comparable size to the DSi, although the 3DS appears to be a bit shorter while gaining a bit of girth.

TGBUS.com also presented some pictures comparing the 3DS (in black) to many other Nintendo handhelds and a Yoshi doll:

It's looking sexier than I'd thought.

I'd like an XL model, though.

Someones losing their job... and probably getting sued. I like being able to see it but I would have loved to have seen it with the proper software installed in it.

Looks really awesome. Nintendo is always great with handhelds.

But I don't think I can spend $300 on this when it comes out. I'd rather get a netbook, which I'm going to need anyways. Too bad.

The size is interesting. Good to see it's dimensions are almost the same os the DSlite, I hope to goodnees that Nintendo brings out an XL version.

Then I can (try to) get Linux running and see how Gimp and Krita work on a DS. The Lite never had the power and the Dsi didn't have a screen upgrade, which made it unpractical. Failing that, hopefully Colors will be moddable to work on the 3DS. Cheap digital sketchbook here we come (maybe)!

Yeah really, you'd think they'd put some effort into not giving away who they are. Wouldn't surprise me if that was their desk at work...

Well I this was kind of a let down....he couldn't have navigated the menus a bit or let us see the thing on for more than 5 seconds?

It is nice to see how much smaller the 3ds will be than my current original model. 2.5 months to go.

Off topic Gee i hope this console wont be R4 able so that entitled casuals cannot download 100 games at a time and play them.

On topic: This looks really good i do like how its smaller then the old ones but is being small because large screens are expensive or dose the 3D work better like this

Edit: Look its yoshi ^_^
Edit: Video down?

Looks good. And as an added benefit, its the first Nintendo handheld since the GBC to use the exact same form as the previous one, meaning it starts out with all the design refinement of the DS, and subsequent 'versions' probably won't have the kind of drastic design improvements seen in the GBA SP and DS lite. So I won't feel so bad about sticking with the original one when new ones are out. Probably.

I could care less about an XL version too. I don't have old man eyes, and I'm not interested in a screen that ups its size but not resolution, thereby becoming obviously pixellated and ugly.
