Only 7? I thought all these lists were supposed to be "8 Things That Are Things!"

I had an eighth, but the resolution wasn't great and I didn't have time to search for another. Thankfully, there are no shortage of silly game covers, so we can always revisit the topic if people like it.

While I get you were picking the retro games but no Ico US version?

Also that Burst N Move 2 cover is hillarious!

The first 4 of these looked metal as fuck! That's what I miss about old video games, they had no pretentions of realism and went all the way with the crazy.

Mario looks like Italian Super Man in the DK box art.

That's the European version of Mega Man. The North American art is what's really insane.
It least things improved for MM2. The EU box art for MM2 looks like the poster for a 60s sci-fi movie, and the NA cover looks like it was done by the artist responsible for MM1's atrocity, but after he finished art school. Then the EU art for MM3 picks up the crazy the NA version dropped. All of those are what inspired MM9 and MM10 to have off the wall artwork.

Bah. Mentioning the NA box art for the original Mega Man these days is like beating a horse that was already beaten to death then was beaten some more then was resurrected, beaten to death again, given a gritty reboot and then beaten to death and shot in the head. Twice.
