Clint Eastwood and Beyoncé Finally Collaborating On Musical Film

The Million Dollar Baby director will helm the upcoming musical remake of A Star is Born, with the "Single Ladies" songstress as the titular star.

Singer Beyoncé Knowles has been building up her acting resume, with roles in such films as Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records, and Obsessed. She's next set to star in a musical remake of A Star is Born, and Oscar-winning director Clint Eastwood has just agreed to direct and produce the film for Warner Bros. Eastwood, director of such films as Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, and Gran Torino, will likely start shooting the film in the fall, with a release date sometime in 2012.

This won't be Eastwood's first time at the musical rodeo. Once a hopeful music theory major in college, he starred in the 1969 film version of the Lerner and Loewe musical Paint Your Wagon [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VM5-xFenaZI]. In recent years has taken the reins on the scoring of many of his recent films, including Mystic River, Million Dollar Baby, Changeling, and partially scoring Gran Torino.

A Star is Born chronicles the romantic relationship between Esther, a young up-and-coming singer and Norman, an alcoholic old-and-going singer. The 2012 version will actually be the fourth remake of the film. The first version was released in 1937, followed by the 1954 version starring Judy Garland and James Mason. The film's most recent incarnation was released in 1976, and starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Beyoncé's counterpart has not yet been cast, but Deadline mentions Will Smith as an actor under consideration for the role.

This sounds particularly horrible.

I don't know how good of an actress Beyonce is, but this is a musical film... and I've heard her sing.

Why, Clint? Just... just why?

Beyonce is going to sing in this film? That's all I needed to know. *makes mental note to never watch this film*

And I have to agree with JourneyThroughHell. Why, Clint?

Maybe it's actually a trick and Clint is going to roundhouse kick Beyonce's head off.

It could happen.

Whaaaat? I was just watching Hang 'Em High yesterday. How the hell can I wake up the next day and get raped in the eyes by this news?

Y'know what, I agree with MovieBob. Fuck reality [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8qcccZy03s].

Heh, I watched the 1954 A Star is Born just a couple of days ago. Couldn't bring myself to appreciate it, I just felt like it dragged on too much :-/ The music was good though ^^

As for this. I really freaking hate Beyoncés music, don't know how she is as an actor, but whatever, there's no reason to believe this is gonna be sh*t... yet.

Great singer, great dancer, good choreographer, mediocre actress. She's had about as many good acting performances as bad ones.

Eh. Not particularly impressed. Maybe it's the songs, but I find her singing to be fairly mediocre, even by today's mainstream music standards.
