Dead Money Coming to PC, PS3; More New Vegas DLC On The Way

Dead Money, the first DLC release for Fallout: New Vegas [http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-New-Vegas-Pc/dp/B002SU4QG4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1296843339&sr=8-3], is coming to the PC and PlayStation 3, and three more add-ons are also on the way.

Okay, it's not exactly an Earth-shattering surprise that the "Xbox 360-exclusive" Dead Money is making its way to the PC and PS3. I think it's fair to say that most of us expected it to happen sooner or later; I don't understand the driving principles behind timed-exclusive DLC but I do know that Bethesda [http://www.bethsoft.com] isn't about to shoot itself in the money-making foot by limiting its DLC releases to a single platform.

So it is that on February 22, the rest of us will finally have our shot at knocking over the Sierra Madre Casino. Dead Money raises the level cap to 35 which in itself is worth the price of admission, but as Russ Pitts noted in his January review [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/8510-Review-Fallout-New-Vegas-Dead-Money] it's also a "near-perfect expansion" that "breaks the style and mechanics of the original game just enough to offer something truly unique."

Bethesda also announced that three more DLC releases are planned for New Vegas over the coming months. No details were revealed but this time around, and allowing for the inevitable technical glitches, they'll be released simultaneously on all three platforms. We'll keep you posted!

Seriously?! As a PS3 owner I couldn't be more happy. One of the few things I hated about Fallout 3 was that I had to wait over a fucking year to get DLC xBox 360 users had. I questioned my worthiness in Bethesda's eyes. Were we not good enough? Why didn't we deserve the DLC? But now, now, I get it at the same time as 360 owners. I'm ecstatic!

Sweet.

But will the others be timed exclusives though?

Seems not, for which I am grateful. I don't see the point of limiting DLC, everybody already has it on the platform they want, why make people wait?

This is nice, however, will they patch the core game anytime soon? I still can't finish New Vegas thanks to absurd bugs that are stopping me from finishing a number of quests.

Even after that big patch I've had this game freeze on my ps3 more than every other game I've played for it combined. Hell probably DOUBLE.
Which is a shame cuz it's such a fun game.

Erm, the three DLCs where known about for awhile with the names having been copyrighted....Damn it I got excited thinking a new one had been announced. Compared to Fallout 3, the rate of DLC has been terrible. With Fallout 3 it was every month, with New Vegas it's been ages. Dead money wasn't even that good regretably.

I'm looking forewards to Honest Hearts (apparently linked to the Burned man/Joshua Graham/ex-Legate Graham and/or New Canaan) and Old World Blues (Probably linked to 'The Big Empty'). Then there's the 'fight under the old world flag; between two couriers, each with a message for the other.'

Also: Did you know that 'Wolfhorn Ranch' location is called 'Ulysseys' camp' in the European versions. Ulysseys is the courier who appears on the spec. ed. cards with a flag pole as a weapon and a leather jacket with 'the old world' (AMerican) flag on the back.

Yeah, I'm a fallout nerd.

He was also slated to be another companion with his own story before he was cut. :p

OP: Cool. I have a 360, but I see no reason why they should be exclusive at first. But please Obsidian, no more ultra-mega-game breaking loot al-a Operation Anchorage.

No, thanks Bethesda.
If I wasn't good enough to pay for you DLC on day one I am not good enough now.
Do not embarass me with this honor.

Sweeeeeeeet I can't wait. I have waited to see the inside of the vault! Can't wait for the other three either, I am hoping for another Point Lookout.

Guessing the PC version of it will be available through Steam?

Hope so, at least.

according to the New Vegas FAQ, Microsoft bought temporary exclusivity for all DLC. so... future DLC packs will most likely also be for 360 first.

That's what made you question your worthiness? I would have thought it was the constant freezing and hanging. That's certainly what made me question what Bethesda thought of me when I got a PS3 copy of Fallout 3. A mistake I would never make again, and for good reason as they pulled the same shit with New Vegas.

Considering the base game requires Steam to run, it's a pretty safe bet that Steam would sell the DLC.

I'll just wait for a bundled edition in about a year or so. It usually works out a lot cheaper than buying them all.

Yeah, I saw the prices of Fallout 3 and all its DLC, and then decided to wait, ended up paying £15, about $20 for the GOTY edition in my local supermarket. Thanks patience!

So, I'm willing to hold out to pick up Fallout NV in it's complete form too. (Not that I'm saying NV isn't complete as a standalone game, more that it would be...more complete with all the intended DLC.)

Seems we'll be waiting longer this time tho, with only one DLC out so far.

I actually would've been pleased if FNV was only as bad as F3 but it was so much worse. I've never played a more glitchy game... hell I've played more polished betas.

So thanks but no thanks. There's no way I'm putting that thing back in my machine.
My ps3 copy is floating around amongst my friends now (some of whom seem to be even less patient than me: I at least finished a storyline) and I don't think I want it back except to sell after it's made the rounds.
If any of the dlc packs end up being really cool: and I'm talking at least a couple that are even better than Point Lookout, I might get the goty for the pc but that's only because I trust the modders to patch it into working order.
It's pretty obvious the ps3 is an afterthought to them and that is in no way based on having to wait a couple of months for dlc.
