Crysis 2 Demo Hits PC in March

PC gamers will finally get their hands on the long-awaited Crysis 2 [http://www.amazon.com/Crysis-2-Pc/dp/B002BS47YE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1297871020&sr=8-2] demo on March 1.

The Crysis 2 demo was originally announced as an in the works [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107205-Xbox-360-Exclusive-Crysis-2-Demo-Coming-Soon] as well, although it neglected to say when we might actually get it.

But now we know! March 1 is the day that the Crysis 2 demo finally arrives for the mouse-and-keyboard set. It'll bring the same goodies to the party as its 360 cousin, with two maps, "Skyline" and "Pier 17," and two modes of multiplayer action, "Team Instant Action" and "Crash Site."

I was hoping against hope that Crytek [http://www.crytek.com/] would come across with a single-player demo for the PC since I have absolutely zero interest in Crysis multiplayer, but I suppose this is how things are done these days. It's not terribly helpful for showing off gameplay but at least it's an opportunity for PC gamers to find out just how badly the game is going to thump their rigs. When it comes to Crytek games, that's pretty good information to have.

Crysis 2 comes out on March 22 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

I am far more interested in the single-player than in the multi-player, but I'd be happy to just be able to play the game at all in a legal fashion. You'd think that Crytek would be quicker in releasing a demo would be a good alternative to pirating the game.

While I agree on a level mate, two things. One, multiplayer shows you what the game is like and doesn't spoil any of the story for you. Two, have you actually taken a look at Crysis multiplayer? I could be jumping to conclusions here, but it looks like one of the most interesting FPS multiplayers that's coming up. It mixes things up a bit with the suit skills and it could turn out to be a LOT of fun. I also found the first Crysis's ability to modify weapons on the go the best such system I've seen in games, if it's present here and available in multiplayer, it could make for some VERY interesting multiplayer (then again, I'm a fan of dynamic and diversity in multiplayer, the masses seem to prefer simple cookie cutter gun on gun situations such as CS and CoD :\ )

Also, I think they went with a multiplayer demo to showcase the multiplayer a bit and get players to try it. I think the initial Crysis multiplayer never got any attention (perhaps I'm wrong? Didn't seem interesting at the time, when I checked out the Escapist trailer on it, my eyes popped), so they might be wanting to do a "hey, we got a multiplayer too - try it, you might like it".

Either way, thumbs up. Will definitely give it a try in March, aside from Battlefield 3, this is the only multiplayer FPS that caught my attention. Yes, Bulletstorm looks fun, but I see real potential here for dynamic gameplay :)

Agreed. Please, let the demo be single player.

Well I don't mind trying multiplayer out. At least I will get to see how it runs on my computer.

Funny. The demo will be out after the full game has been leaked to the public.

Well, maybe not funny "Ha ha" but definitely funny "Iiiiiiironic!"

i think when crysis first came out no one really bothered with the multiplayer but when crysis warhead was released with a popper multiplayer component (crysis wars) i think that did okay, i really enjoyed it, was more like battlefield then, with large maps, vehicles the lot, but im worried that's its gonna be too similar to call of duty with small gun on gun maps now =/

I didn't think game makers even did PC demos anymore.

Thanks for proving me wrong!

I'll probably wait for a Steam sale on at least 50% off or something. The game interest me a little, but at the same time, I know it will piss me off if they abandon the story of the first. A single player demo would get me more interested in buying it, but right now, I can wait a bit for it...

The multiplayer was good fun on the 360, so I'll play it to test my rig, and to see how the multiplayer is on the PC (shooters and gamepads should never have slept together), since I was begging for a mouse and keyboard whilst playing it.

I'd quite like a proper benchmark tool in it as well, since testing stress from the graphics during multiplayer sessions isn't the best way to do it.
