DICE Wants Your Ideas for Battlefield 3

DICE is offering prizes for the best user-submitted ideas for Battlefield 3 [http://www.ea.com/battlefield3] but just dropping them an email isn't going to be enough to win.

Battlefield 3 is coming, perhaps later this year, but for now it seems that DICE is still working new ideas into the game and to that end it wants to know what you, the fan base, would like to see included. "DICE is starting a new community challenge asking Battlefield fans to give us your feedback in the most creative way you can think of," the studio wrote. "We want to know what it is you want in Battlefield 3, whether it is game specific features, weapons, vehicles or anything!"

But there's a catch: just mailing in a list of ideas, even if they're good ones, isn't going to cut it. You have to make an impression on the dev team by making your suggestion in a "creative" manner.

Planet Battlefield [http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/fullstory.php?id=164536] has a couple of suggestions. "Really passionate about commander mode? Write 'Commander Mode' on your hairy chest, take a picture and post it," it said. "Got a girlfriend? Use that to your advantage. No nudity though." Which is a shame, really, because I think a nudity toggle in the options menu could be a big selling point.

DICE also promises "some very nice prizes" to whoever makes the best/most memorable suggestions, and to the community site where it was submitted as well. Are we a community site? We're a site, and somebody here must play Battlefield - that's good enough for me. Come up with some great ideas, post them here and win us some stuff!

Instead of blood, the bodies will leak paper-thin confetti.
Vehicles will all be run on fuel sources, which will, in this version, be pee. Future DLC will change this for the circus map-pack, where the new fuel source will be unnecessary sequels (end of fuel crisis).
Walking will be replaced by 3 free-to-choose stances: Moonwalking, 70's strut and "The Mick Jagger"
The singleplayer campaign is to be revised into video-clip of a 6 hour rant on Russians, happily performed by hungered story-writers.

Now you'll have to excuse, as I shall interpret these golden suggestions into a modern dance and perform it to "Ride of the Valkyries" recomposed into britpop.

I'll upload it by Thursday

Edit: In multiplayer; the player will be given the following options upon death: "Yes I'll die", "I will not die" and "Maybe I'll die". If the last option is chosen the player will be notified again after an hour, and be able to play ms. pac-man for the remainder of the time.

How's this for an idea:

Stop adding to the sewer of multiplayer military FPSs and make a proper Mirror's Edge game. You know, that one and only visually distinctive and vaguely interesting IP that you will ever get your hands on.

(EDIT: That was unnecessarily bitchy... wasn't it?)

I know alot of people will think
"Why dont you put killstreaks, small maps, prestige mode and perks in it"

Blerh.
Stick to your roots DICE.

A proper Commander mode for the PC version. Its already been stated that the Commander Mode will be dumbed down compared to what is already there in BF 2 and 2142 for the sake of the consoles and it pisses me off.
Wait, is commander actually confirmed? I thought they were pushing that aside to make it more approachable.

OT: Are we talking real creative stuff like creating maps, weapons or animations? Or is it just a matter of attention-whoring certain stuff to get it included in the finished product?

I want there to be low orbit satelite centered combat. Specifically with low orbit fighters and jetpacks.

I have an idea that will at least get me exited if approved.

DICE, hire me? (One can always hope...)

EDIT: I will have to agree on that the idea itself isn't very original BUT if you look at the ways one usually try to get an interview for a job then it's quite unusual to try and get one trough a community feedback challenge...

That sounds great. Well done, DICE. I really hope some cool things will become for Battlefield 3 of this.

It's a good thing they want creative representations of ideas. That cuts a lot of good-for-nothing requests. And they don't insist on giving them, which is good because my ideas are terrible, or non-existent at best.

Maybe, but the truth is that I was thinking exactly the same thing.

I wanna base rape my way to the carrier in the ugly chinese helicopter, hop out, and crack out a massive log on the floor of one of the corridors. I get 5 points when someone slips in it + a cool cam replay too.

Would issuing an airstrike on their headquarters with bombs labeled "commander mode" be too much?

me too. how can the same company do such boring and generic games (BF 1 and 2) and something so amazingly original and fun (although flawed) like mirrors edge?

It's not DICE's fault for there being so many modern FPSs. The original Battlefields were pioneers in the online FPS genre, and like GTA IV, there was always gonna be a BF3. If anything, EA Danger Close is at fault for unsuccessfully attempting to reboot MOH and Activi$ion for releasing annual clones of COD like it's bloody FIFA. Then there are the little companies trying to cash in on the former two with genre-tarnishing garbage like Breach and Blacklight Tango Down. Bleugh.

Why do we have to jump though hurdles in order to help the game developers? Isn't taking the time to type out a thoughtful response penalty enough?
