Rumor: New Superman Movie Will Reboot Krypton
Not only is Zod going to be in the new Superman movie, but we'll get to see another classic villain and a brand new version of Krypton.
This has been a big week for news/rumors about Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman movie. First there was the news that <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109177-Zods-Secret-Identity-Revealed-For-New-Superman-Film>Terrance Stamp's replacement had been found, and now there are rumors that the movie will feature a substantially different Krypton than what was shown in the original movies with Christopher Reeves.
Speaking to Latino Review, an inside source close to the film has revealed the following info:
? You will see JOR-EL and his wife, Lara.
? Daniel Day-Lewis was looked at for JOR-EL and not the villain.
? Krypton will not be a crystal planet like the Donner film; this Krypton will PROBABLY look like the Coruscant skyline from Star Wars.
? The Kryptonian villainess is not URSA...Well sort of. The villainess is FAORA.
If that last point sounds at all confusing to you, it turns out that the comic character Faora <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faora>was the basis for the film character Ursa (who, herself, <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ursa_(villain)#Comics>became a comic character in 2006). Basically, Faora was a Kryptonian serial killer who hated all men who received one of the longest prison sentences to the Phantom Zone ever.
If the rumor's to be believed, I've got no problem with Krypton looking like Coruscant; the comics have presented the planet as an incredibly advanced society (with practically no mention of the crystals that appeared in the original movies). The rest of the rumors also sound rather promising, but these should still be treated as rumors until they're confirmed by the studio or Mr. Snyder, himself.
