Rumor: Sony Planning God of War IV for 2012

Kratos could be sharpening his blades for the release of God of War IV in late 2012.

Despite the story of Kratos seemingly having been done to death, or as dead as a god can get, Sony may already be preparing the character for another PlayStation 3 entry. An anonymous source has made it known that God of War IV is planned for release in September 2012.

The latest issue of unofficial PlayStation magazine PSM3 writes that the source "works closely" with the God of War [http://www.amazon.com/God-War-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B002NN7AKU/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1303308750&sr=1-1] universe. He said, plainly: "God of War IV is coming, and will hit in September 2012." He apparently also indicated that another God of War-related project is in the works, which by my best guess would probably be an NGP title.

If true, you've got to wonder where Sony will take Kratos for God of War IV. We've explored his past and present though two PlayStation 2 titles, two PSP titles, and God of War III [http://www.amazon.com/God-War-III-Playstation-3/dp/B000ZK9QCS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1303308529&sr=8-1] supposedly concluded Kratos' journey for revenge against the gods on the PlayStation 3 in March 2010.

There's no way Sony would give up on a franchise like God of War, but swapping in a new character and a new storyline could be a risky move. More likely than not, Sony will find a new group of foes for Kratos to slice with his blades while spinning around in the air, or at least make him a key figure when God of War IV eventually does make it to a console.

Put me on the "couldn't care less" list after that terrible game they called God of War 3. Seriously what a piece of shit game. It had a few moments but when all the weapons are the exact same, when all the areas are constantly revisted, and when you have to kill a topless goddess to progress... no thanks!

God of War IV: Kratos vs Jesus vs Thor

I have no idea about the series, though my younger brother (who knows nearly everything about Greek mithology) finds it funny. Also, deicide looses its awesome edge when you have done it twielve times today alread.

There were many writeups about this. Yahtzee's a good one. Krate got revenge for his family in gow 1 so the plot of 2 was....more revenge? Then 3 was just like a generic hollywood crapfest, all eye candy no plot.

There is NOWHERE else to go other than make it into an RTS or something that takes place between the end of 1 and the start of 2.

Hmmm...I'm still gonna just play the third one and let that be the end of the series for me. There's just too much of the gameplay that I hate (all the platforming, the easy but tedious puzzles). The boss fights and the spectacle are mesmerizing enough to keep me going, but I can only take one more game of that godawful platforming.

So 4's story. Gooberos throws himself off a cliff at the end of yet another game...(i'd say spoiler but since he does it EVERY game...not so much)

The Gods come back and all make fun of him before accepting him back to the group.
