Based on what we've seen in 2015, choose 2 of them to actually be good with seriously flaws, 1 will be completely broken and unplayable, 3 will have day-one DLC and season passes putting their total price well over $150 and the final 2 will just be mediocre bordering on bad.

I can't decide how I feel about Overwatch. Once I see more concrete info on the monetization I might feel better.

what do you mean? its pretty obvious they're going for skins and upfront sells to cover costs.

Okay this is just silly.

Every week someone is whining about the lack of original idea and new IPs, but then comes an article about 'most anticipated games' and it has 7 sequels. Yes, Zelda and Far Cry are not traditional sequels, the latter more so, but I think my point still stands. If you want something new try broadening your horizon.

From this list:

Dishonored 2 - I loved the first game. I have very deep respect for Arkane Studios - I believe every single game they've made has a place in gaming history. Even if it's not a prominent one. I am very excited about this sequel. And hey, it's their first ever sequel, too!

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - I rather liked Human Revolution, and I really want to see what the studio does now with the game. Hopefully, they'll get the boss fight right this time.

Far Cry: Primal - looks interesting. I'm not really sure I'll play it but I want to see how it goes.

Dark Souls III - I'm not a Dark Souls player myself, but I respect the games. I'm looking forward to how this one is.

Doom - eh, the few gameplay trailers that we had looked promising. I might be interested in playing or not, I'll wait. It's still something on my radar at least.

Not on the list:

XCOM 2 - I've literally just finished saving the world in Enemy Within again. I really, really, really love it and I think the premise sound completely kickass - take the Earth back by striking from the shadows.

Wait... I thought the first two Zelda games and Windwaker were open-world games prior to the pending Wii U Zelda game...

Other than that... this:

Zelda, Dark Souls and Far Cry can all die in a car fire for all I care. Alright, Far Cry 3 was fun the first time around and Blood Dragon was a nice little distraction, but that was enough.

Dishonored 2 - Fuck yeah, Dishonored! The original game was kickass and so were the Daud DLCs (which should've just been one expansion pack) and I can't wait to do some cloak and daggering in Serkonos.
Doom - it's Doom.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - I'm a bit worried about this one (and I don't like the fact that Jensen is back, I'd rather have a new protagonist), but, you know, Human Revolution was good.

Now you know which game deserves to be on this list? Shadow Warrior 2. The previous game was the best FPS of 2013 according to me after all.

i wouldn't say any of the 3d Zelda games (those are the ones i'm most familiar with) have been open world. while you can choose the order to do certain dungeons in at specific points in the games, the maps themselves aren't actually that open, a lot of areas are closed off by item requirements, certain dungeons have to be done before/after certain others, and overall the games are pretty linear (aside from the scant few side quests and the specific way you approach fights/how you decide to use certain items/weapons, you're not going to have a radically different experience each time you play/compared to other people who play the game).

the only game i can't say this about for certain is wind waker, which i haven't played all the way through. though i doubt i'd consider it open world in the way most people think of the term. they're certainly not any kind of sandbox. i'm definitely super excited for the upcoming Zelda game but i wouldn't say it's any kind of "return to form" for the 3d games in the series--it's probably closer to that as far as the earlier 2d ones goes (i don't have a lot of experience with those though, never was able to get into them as much as the 3d games).

Of that list. Only one of the 3 games I'm lookign forward to is on it. Which is Doom.
Sure, I should like Dishonored 2, but I still haven't finished the first one.

It's a game from 2014 and it's a game whose prequel only recently launched in the US/ in the west in general but I am chomping at the freaking BIT for Yokai Watch 2...even though it's broken up into two or three games this time around, Pokemon style...Yokai Watch was my GotY...which should indicate that my PC is Choutzu-tier and I don't have a PS4 yet but still...Yokai Watch 2 and Yokai Watch Busters are on my list for next year. Also Star Fox.

My list of stuff I'm looking forward to for 2016:

Persona 5
X-com 2 (How was this not on the list?)
Dark Souls 3
Mirrors Edge 2 (maybe)
The Mandate (hopefully in 2016)

So I agree its going to be a good year for gaming, but for different reasons.

List was losing me until #5.

I'm practically giddy with anticipation for Quantum Break and Doom. QB may be the game that makes me buy an Xbox One.

Though...it's seemingly the ONLY thing that interests me on the One. My PC and PS4 are more than adequate for my gaming needs right now, so I may wind up playing the game on a friends One.

Otherwise, there's naught on that list that I'm excited for, save for maybe the new Deus Ex and Dishonored. But I'm on the fence with those, at best.

The only games I'm looking forward to for 2016 are No Man's Sky, Titanfall 2, Routine, Firewatch, Hob, Yooka-Laylee, Homeworld: Shipbreakers, and a small handful of others. Sadly, some of those may wind up not seeing release until 2017.

XCOM 2 is definitely on my short list too. Just not enough room for everything.

I think you can safely assume that QB will eventually land on PC. It's ludicrous that they didn't plan for it upfront, but then again, that's Microsoft for you. The only thing less serious than their so-called "commitment to PC games" is my commitment to sobriety.

I really wanted to include Horizon: Zero Dawn, but it's basically still just a tech demo. I'll buy in once we get a release date that's a little more firm.

I know they'll be selling skins, but I want to see what else they'll be selling. It feels like it wants to be a cross between TF2 and a MOBA. I don't want to see them gating content behind paywalls. That would be a killer for me.
