Oh look a none funny article about how "nerds" don't understand other people. Seriously, I don't want to be mean but this whole, "Us vs. them" mentality needs to stop. I was really hoping this would be a list of techie ideas for items I could buy for my mom who isn't big into technology, instead I got "buy her crappy romance novels haha, because people who aren't "nerds" have horrible tastes in books."

No because both of those are accurate descriptions of how I spend most of my free time: I.E. Reading technical manuals and/or gaming. So saying I'm a nerd and a gamer may not be cool, but it's accurate.

BESIDES I thought being a nerd was the in thing now, so doesn't that technically make being a nerd and self identifying as one cool?

I was unaware we hired the writers of the Big Bang Theory to start doing columns on the Escapist. A not funny joke that perpetuates the idea that people that enjoy video games and tech and people that don't might as well be from two different planets.
