Why is Darth Vader considered a villain? Thought he was with the Empire, not the rebels.
Yeah, the Galactic Empire are the villains.
The Alliance to Restore the Republic(Rebel Alliance) are the heroes.
Make sense now?
Besides, who would willingly side against Han Force-damned Solo?
So the side that brought peace to the galaxy are the bad guys while the ones who caused all the bloodshed are good, nah that's not how it works. The Empire were definitely the good guys in the movies.
Exactly! The Empire brought order and peace to the galaxy after the old Republic fell appart in civil war born from inefficiency and disunity. Then, to top it off, their massive infrastructure projects brought the galaxy out of an at least 5000 year long technological stasis and saw more development in two decades then the entirety of the period between the Great Hyperspace War and the Empire's rise.
And hell, it's not like the rebels where popular, there are so few of them at all times, and almost all of them are human, who follow a queen who is their leader by birth and not merit (the Empire) or democracy (the old Republic), and they can't be that popular if they're hiding in the ass end of nowhere instead of locals jumping at the chance to hid them in their homes.
And to top it off, they turned Endor, a world with a peaceful and possibly beneficial agreement between the locals and the Empire, into foot soldiers for their army which cause them to take massive casualties in a fight which ended with them in a worst position then had they never been involved at all.
Our heroes everybody.
