Rumor: 10+ New Kinect Titles Take Aim at Hardcore Audience

After months of embarrassing poses and dragging the coffee table across the room, Kinect owners may have ten new titles to look forward to after Microsoft's E3 conference next month.

Anonymous sources told Eurogamer that Kinect owners can look forward to games for the "hardcore," original franchises for the device, and sequels to Kinect's two biggest successes (Kinect Sports and Dance Central) at the popular game trade show.

After a [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108367-Kinect-Becomes-the-Fastest-Selling-Gizmo-Ever"]successful launch[/a] and support for more experimental titles - such as, Twisted Pixel's The Gunstringer and Q Entertainment's Child of Eden - it seems Microsoft is prepared to announce titles that will capture the interest of more than just the casual audience it's been catering to lately.

Other possible titles that may be demoed at E3 include Burnout Paradise-esque, open world driving game Forza World, Terminal Reality's Star Wars game, Suda 51's [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/103522-TGS-10-Codename-D-Kinect-for-Hardcore-Gamers"]Codename D[/a], Capcom's Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, Crytek's Codename: Kingdoms, and whatever MGS Vancouver [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109712-Rumor-Microsoft-Developing-AAA-Shooter-for-Kinect"]may be working on[/a]. It's also possible that the upcoming Halo remake [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107448-Master-Chief-Might-Need-to-Buy-a-Kinect"]may include Kinect controls[/a], and that Epic Games (Gears of War) [a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/107648-More-Gears-of-War-Kinect-Rumors-Leave-Cover"]may incorporate[/a] it into the studio's next, yet-to-be-announced title.

Microsoft doesn't want to take the thunder out from its upcoming presentation, so no one is willing to confirm or share details on these rumors at this time. Being the case, it's hard to say whether a Kinect title in this context means only purple-box, Kinect-required games or any game to feature Kinect support (for example, Child of Eden which can be played with standard controllers.)

Whether these projects are shown next month or not, Kinect owners may soon have more options than virtual sports and family friendly mini-games at their disposal.

i hope that they are going to use kinect for more than games that are basically wii sports it has so much potential but they have to get away from this no controller philosophy they should use the controller in tandem with the kinect. my case in point this demo vid i fount on r/gaming that uses the head tracking of the kinect to move the camra and the controller to do most of the other things. i think that would make for a more imersive experience than standing up and flailing your arms around .

EDIT:looking at it again it seems i was mistaken about it using kinect for the head tracking but the principle remains the same they need to fuse motion controls and regular controllers to make an imersive first person game

If they use Kinect for the Halo game, it's going to be the only Halo game i don't play...

For the sheer fact that i don't have a Kinect system...

If it is for Kinect, lets hope it's a Hybrid game.

I'm calling 7 shit, 3 mediocre and one that will be surprisingly good. (Until we get an actual number)

Halo remake? As in the first Halo? As in the only good Halo? Kinect controls? I'll buy that if it works.

Not sure how it will work...

I think it may be a little too late for me. The games being shown have got to be 100% stellar for me to give a fart about the Natal (still not calling it Kinect)

Anyway, we'll know it when they show it (though I could have sworn Gears of War: Exile was already leaked)

This sounds ominous. Why set a number?

Surely they'll be a peripheral of some kind for a halo remake. I don't see the trigger finger movement alone accurately transposing to a firefight.

Halo will be dead to me if they put in Kinect, the device is stupid and pointless.

Headtracking? Great, right up untill i move my head for the tracking feature and then i can't see the fugging screen!

Well, we'll find out at E3, if last year was any indication. What was it, about 3 games, an hour or more on Kinect, then a surprise "you all get a 360 S!" before the conference ended. Yeah.

Why can't developers just understand their audience? "Hardcore" gamers aren't going to buy gimmicky controls en masse. You might get a few curious people, but not nearly enough to make it worth the money and effort to develop.

Jeez, these days the "console wars" seem more like a game of Russian roulette. Sony tries to kill themselves with the PSN outage, so Microsoft comes right back with the deathblow for their Kinect thing. It's like they're trying to lose.

Glad to hear that there will be some support for the "gamers" so to speak. Also I don't know how much more jumping and flailing my joints can take. I pretty much stopped playing Kinect games because my arthritis couldn't handle the wear and tear. Anybody else have that problem?

If they aim at hardcore gamers, They are going to miss. They increase time delay between thought and on-screen action, not a good thing, especially for hardcore gamers.

Don't own an Xbox nor a Kinect myself, but i do hope they'll be good ones. I can imagine that it could be fun playing some "hardcore" games using that gizmo.

If I had an Xbox I'd give it a shot but I don't.

Why are people so against motion controls, I have several friends as well as myself how could be called gamers and enjoy motion controls and would be happy to give these games a try. In other words stop whining and let the people who enjoy the motion controls enjoy them and you can go back to enjoying your controllers.

Am I the only one that would think the next Fight Night game using the Kinect for controls would be amazing? I would actually buy it knowing that finally I'll be able to perform a hook when I want to rather then when the controller and machine thinks it's appropriate.
