Xbox Owners Vote for Obama

Barack Obama has won an Xbox Live presidential poll as part of Microsoft's "Rock the Vote" promotion.

Microsoft's promotion of the "Rock the Vote [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/85844]" campaign over Xbox Live seems to be successful promotion of the 2008 United States presidential election, if the turnout of voters for a preliminary poll is any indication.

A poll of 100,000 Live users, more contributors than Gallup, NBC and CNN polls combined, asked gamers to select their nominee for president.

The results are:
[ul]
[li]Obama/Biden- 43 percent[/li]
[li]McCain/Palin- 31 percent[/li]
[li]Undecided- 13 percent[/li]
[li]Other- 13 percent[/li]
[/ul]

Additionally, the "Rock the Vote" campaign distributed over 55,000 voter registration forms over Xbox Live, 350,000 pieces of digital candidate schwag such as gamerpics, videos and "Rock the Vote" logos and 25,000 video downloads of the Republican and Democratic national conventions.

Despite being non-scientific (potential for multiple account abuse and the historical liberal leanings of young voters and technology enthusiasts), the numbers definitely reveal a large lead for the Democrats in the aforementioned demographics. More surprisingly is the large number of "Other" voters, most of which are probably Ron Paul holdouts hoping he can form some sort of write-in comeback.

I take offense to the statement that the number of "Other" voters are all Ron Paul holdouts. There are a number of perfectly legimate 3rd party candidates, many of which are large parties that have been growing every year in the elections. Two of the primary ones being the Green party and the Libertarian party.

There are plenty of people, I'm sure, who voted Other who are members of one of the other 3rd parties. Not just Ron Paul holdouts wanting a write-in comeback.

Well it's a good job that they didn't write that all "other" were Ron Paul holdouts then isn't it? If you read again:

Your "offense" is misplaced and you seem to be throwing a hissy fit over nothing.

Even if I didn't have an Xbox, I'd still vote Obama. I hate the ideals of conservatives.
