Sony to Place Final Stone in PSN Return's Foundation

Sony can finally get back to business with the PlayStation Network worldwide after an announced restoration in Japan.

After what must have seemed like a lifetime to Japanese PlayStation 3 owners, Sony has announced a return for the PlayStation Store and other remaining PSN services in the region. Japanese gamers had to face a much longer downtime than the rest of the world after Sony was external intrusion [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109514-Sony-Admits-External-Forces-Brought-Down-PSN].

The PlayStation Network, including online gameplay, has already been partially restored in Japan, but the PlayStation Store remained down due to believed security concerns from the government. Those concerns have apparently been allayed.

Sony announced that the PlayStation Store, code/voucher redeeming, and Qriocity services will be available in Japan again on July 6. After this date, the PSN will have been restored in all regions where it was previously taken down. Japan's PSN "Welcome Back" program will also be enacted sometime after July 6, allowing for free game downloads as an apology.

I'm sure Sony wants to put all of this hacker business in its rear view, and the restoration of PSN services in Japan was one of the final stepping stones so that could happen. Sony and its partners can finally get back to just creating and releasing new content.

So Japan gets back up right as everyone else's free trials end? CONSPIRACY!
That had to hurt, Sony. I really don't see them ever coming back in the gaming market after this fiasco.

Hopefully not at all, I'd like to think that Sony will be ready for any kind of attack now and be able to act according to prevent it. And I hope to God that other games companies learn from it as I don't want the same situation with my Xbox or Steam account

Good for Japan, I love the PSN, playing LBP with other people is so much fun.

On other PSN related news, WHY THE HELL CAN'T I CHANGE MY PSN NAME!? How hard is it to make that possible!?!?

Interesting? I'm still of the opinion that they're getting jipped for how long they were off line. We got full games, they're barely getting anything.

Anyway, I'm glad they're getting it back, and I'm glad I'm finally gonna get to beable to have my hands on Japanese PSN Demos again. About bloody time.
