George R. R. Martin's Game of Legos

All of your favorite characters from Game of Thrones now in convenient Lego form.

If you're like me then you are still riding high on Game of Thrones fandom ever since the HBO show 14 Emmy nominations [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/gameofthrones/8966-Game-of-Thrones-Commentary-on-Fire-and-Blood], establishing Martin's story as part of our cultural consciousness, proved that fantasy was not "boy fiction" despite what New York Times bloggers might say. I'm knee-deep in the fifth book in the series, released just last week after a delay of almost six years. Luckily, I not only have HBO's adaptation to help me visualize the characters of Martin's epic, Sam Beattie was kind enough to take pictures of his representations of the likes Jon Snow and Daenerys Stormborn using Lego dude parts.

Before you get your hopes up, no this isn't a new set from Lego. All of the parts and pieces used for these figures were cobbled together from various sources to bring out the details of each character. The attention to detail is no surprise because Sam Beattie is a game designer, working for Blue Fang Games in the Boston area on mobile and social games - best known titles include Oregon Trail and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? Facebook games.

I especially like how Gregor Clegane is so much taller than everyone else and the chain around Grand Maester Pycelle's neck. The Lannisters look pretty sweet as well, although i'm not sure why Cersei is so much taller than her whole family. I suppose you have to pick your battles when you're using used parts ...

[spoiler='The book 2 Characters' ]Whitebeard, Salla, Mel and Davos[/spolier] were pretty awesome to see too

I think all of the Women are tall as both Sansa and Cat are Taller than Ned in that first Picture

I also did not spot Hodor right away as he is a bit too short!

Awesome work...now Back to the Dance

I love that he included some A Clash of Kings characters like Davos, too.

From what it looks like, the women's dress piece is taller than the normal leg piece, making most of the women taller than the men. Hence why Sansa also towers over everyone else.

I've just reached about halfway through the first book, and I happy to say that the only minifigs that stumped me appear to be from a later novel.

HBO's 'The Game of Thrones' was a new experiment for me. I usually read a novel before watching the adaptation on the screen, but this time I watched the series first. I'm not disappointed... In fact, I can honestly say that, so far, the HBO series was the best book-to-screen adaptation that I've ever seen. Character & set design, pacing, even the little changes that are easily noticed were obviously done with great care and with understandable intent.

Carice, yay! Never saw anything with Dillane in it, but he looks good. Was hoping for Mark Strong though.

I wish this series had this kind of recognition BEFORE it was made into an HBO show. >.<

Its always nice when something gets the lego treatment.

Hopefully we'll get a Lego: Game of thrones game.

Actually in my country it just started, but it doesn't matter as people torrented it and spoiled it for me. Sigh.

Anyway, they're pretty good the figures.

That's awesome, those minifigs really look the part. However, I couldn't recognise the ones in pictures 9 and 11. Who are they?
