Arkham City's Collector's Edition Is Pretty Crazy

Exclusive content, an original soundtrack, and an entire DC Animated movie are only part of the goodies in the Collector's Edition.

When Batman: Arkham Asylum came out, its Collector's Edition was underwhelming at best (seriously, remember that junky plastic batarang?). Now that <a href=http://www.amazon.com/Batman-Arkham-City-Playstation-3/dp/B002I0F5M8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311094311&sr=8-1>Batman: Arkham City's release is fast approaching, Warner Bros. Interactive has revealed the game's planned Collector's Edition sounds like it's going to give players a lot more bang for their buck.

The Collector's Edition is going to sell for $99 on all three systems (PC, PS3, 360) and will include the following:

? Custom Batman statue produced by Kotobukiya

? Collectible art book

? Early access to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns skin

? Batman: Arkham City album from WaterTower Music including original songs by hit artists, available via digital redemption

? Bonus DC Universe animated original movie, Batman: Gotham Knight

? Four collectible cards

Batman: Gotham Night is a surprising addition to the bundle, but it's not an unwelcome one. The Collector's Edition of Batman: Arkham City isn't listed on Amazon yet, but expect that to change soon.

I've already got the animated movie in question (for those who haven't heard of or seen it think Batman's answer to the animatrix set in the Nolanverse) but this still looks pretty tempting.

Agreed.

Still, I won't be getting it.

Sure, it looks nice and stuff, but I'm already pre-ordering Skyrim. (even though the only bonus that I'll get with it is a cloth map, but still.)

I might pick up Arkham City a couple of months after it's release though.

It's for PC too? Awesome! Maybe if more people did collector's editions on PC as cool as these guys, more people would buy PC games. You can't pirate a Batman statue. Too bad I don't give a shit about anything else besides the actual game. But still, it's cool.

won't be getting as i already have 7 games pre-ordered and want to conserve money. but two things about it that i dislike;

1 - the animated DVD i've seen, could of had a half hour animated short prologue for the game.

2 - the soundtrack not being a CD, what happens if my PC crashes and i lose the the data and the key is a one use deal? i would assume that i'll have to join something or download a program to get access to the song which i don't want to do.

I've never gotten a Collector's Edition of anything before. I don't like throwing down an extra $30-$40 for stuff I wouldn't bother buying separately. Give me stuff for free, then I'll preorder. Which reminds me, time to preorder Dark Souls...

EDIT: Glad they stayed away from the Catwoman stuff they were considering.

Is that...is that a statuete?

...

[HEADING=2]SOLD!!![/HEADING]

What can I say, I'm an absolute sucker for decorative items. 100 Euros (because who cares about exchange rates) is hefty though, I hope I'll have the money for it by then.

I've seen Gotham Night, and to be honest it wasn't all that good as I recall. Put in "Under the Red Hood" and call it a deal. At least it's better than the last collector's edition.

I think they should pay us to watch Gotham Knight... Just like the Animatrix and Halo Legends, only 2-3 good stories and the rest is shite

Gotta have it, though I am a little surprised that they won't be including a trade paper back of the Arkham City comic series, which I think seems like perfect Special Edition Fodder. I gotta have that statue though.
I wonder what the TDKR skin will be like, I imagine that it will add about 100 pounds to Batman's weigh, change all the attacks to be brutal bone snapping ultraviolence, and include Frank Miller himself narrating everything the player does, referring to the player as a stupid old man every time a goon gets a hit in on them.

Wait, is that extra movie called Gotham Knight or Night? I am confused.
Otherwise, looks like a good Collectors Edition.

What if you lose the CD and your computer crashes? You should back up your data in any case.

Well at least this time if doesn't come with that weak and already scratched Batarang. Go to admit those are good stuff eventhough I've already bought that dvd.

I hope they keep to the exchange rates. If they're selling it for $99 across the pond, then it should be £61 here. I'm willing to spend the extra few pennies for that amount of stuff. A Batman statue would go very nicely in my budding collection.

A 3-year old animated movie, soundtrack, concept art you can most likely find online...the statue is about the only good thing about that pack. I'm sure the CD is great, but i wouldn't drop $100 on it.

Looking forward to the DKR skin, but I think I can just wait on it and save myself $40.
