Mortal Kombat: Legacy Closes First Season With Cyborg Assassins

What better way is there for Mortal Kombat: Legacy to say goodbye to season one than with experimental surgery on ninjas?

After a rather long hiatus, the final episode of Mortal Kombat: Legacy has made its ways online, and rather appropriately it's one of the best episodes of the season. The season finale introduces us to Sektor and Cyrax, letting the audience see their transformation from willing - well, willing-ish - human test subjects, to the mechanical assassins we know and love.

The episode takes the Robocop route, showing the process in slightly disjointed snatches. There's also some Clockwork Orange-esque mental programming, with the Lin Kuei scientists attempting to replace emotional responses with logic and pure obedience. The cyborgs themselves have had a subtle redesign to make them look more realistic, and while the effects aren't going to win any Oscars, they're pretty impressive for a web series. A word of warning though, the episode has some surprisingly graphic scenes of the two assassins being cut up and "augmented." The scenes aren't massively gory, but if watching people being operated on makes you feel uncomfortable, this might be something to skip.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy has been a rather hit and miss series, with some very impressive episodes - such as Raiden's stint [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/110148-Raiden-Rides-the-Crazy-Train-in-New-Mortal-Kombat-Episode ] in a mental hospital - and others - such as the two episodes with Kitana [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109727-Shao-Kahn-Crushes-His-Foes-in-Fantastical-New-Mortal-Kombat-Episode] and Mileena [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109896-New-Mortal-Kombat-Episode-Brings-the-Death-Fangs-and-Sibling-Rivalry] - which were significantly less so. Of course, the Mortal Kombat games are such a bizarre assortment of influences, with magic and monsters rubbing shoulders with sci-fi, it makes sense that getting a cohesive whole out of it might be tricky.

I watched this episode not an hour ago, and I found it to be one of the best MK:Legacy episodes I've ever seen.
The way they showed the progressive operation was interesting, and the second fight was pretty well-done.

They were punching them that whole time without realising that they were made of metal?

Also, how structurally sound can the armour be when the protective surfaces alone made up of about 50 moving mini-panels?
Oh good! Point out the logical flaws in the best game-to-screen adaption we had in years. xD

Loved the episode and I'm very happy they ditched the Saw-feeling from "Rebirth".

A wizard did it.

It is made structurally sound with the power of ninja magic science.

OP: The first half of the episode was very mediocre. The acting in general was not impressive. The CG would have been intolerable had Sektor and Cyrax been fighting a human post-Initiative. The cyborg fight was fucking awesome. That is all.

Ummmm... it was cool and all, but why not just make more of those Hydro dudes? Seriously, that one cyborg nearly took down Cyrax and Sektor at once. How the hell is it a "test" if they barely win a 2v1 fight? If there were two Hydros, they would wipe the floor with the red-and-yellow chumps. I know, don't look for plot holes in Mortal Kombat, but still...

People pointing out the bad acting or bad cgi or quality of some episodes should probably realize that Tanchorean didn't get a huge budget to film all of these so he really only could do so much with what he had, I think he's done an excellent job so far, this episode and the Raiden one are the best of the series

By far the best episode(for me) was the last one.Was a bit sad to hear that it's gonna be the last one in this season.

Looking forward towards the next season.

Man I can't believe I fogot about this until it was posted onto here! (I was aware that the last episode of season 1 will be aired at Comic Con).
The episode is pretty awesome and I love the updated design on those two. I wonder who is going have to fight those two?
