Aussie Retailers Reveal Skyrim Pre-Order Goodies

Three retailers, and three very different Skyrim pre-order incentives.

There are still a few months to go until Skyrim [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HYK956/ref=s9_simh_gw_p63_d0_g63_i3?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=0CY3EDFP9G951BQRVBX6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938811&pf_rd_i=507846] comes out, but if you're Australian and want to grab a few extra bits of game-related swag, it might just be worth heading down to your local retailer right now and pre-ordering the game.

EB Games has an exclusive, "while stocks last," edition of the game that comes with a steelbook case, a "premium" physical map, four art cards, and a hardback notebook stamped with the Skyrim logo. This edition will set you back $108 AUD. JB Hi-Fi is offering the same premium physical map and an official strategy guide for $109AUD. Last, but not least, is GAME, where you can grab the map and two Elder Scrolls novels - The Infernal City and Lord of Souls - for the slightly lower price of $98 AUD.

Between them, the retailers have something for every type of Skyrim players. If you want to get a boost in the game itself, you head to JB Hi-Fi, if you love diving into the world of the Elder Scrolls, you head to GAME, and if you like having a some neat, Skyrim-themed items, then EB Games has you covered.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim comes out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on November 11th.

How am I supposed to choose between these?

Oh well, lord only knows what pre-order bonuses come to Norway anyway.

Wow. Are developers finally realizing Australia is a place after all? First Arkham City, now this?

A note book? Really? Oh well. I'd like the JB HiFi one but JB is only predominant in Queensland and larger cities...well, looks like the standard edition for me.

You might want to mention that those are the console prices, PC prices are $88 [http://www.ebgames.com.au/pc-152696-The-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-Exclusive-EB-Games-Edition-PC], $89 [http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/pc-games/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-bonus-physical-map/631338], and $88 [http://www.game.com.au/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/pc-games/ESSVSPC], respectively.

Well, JB HiFi does free shipping Australia-wide, so you could just order it off their website. Oh, and these are the standard edition, they're just bonuses if you pre-order (unless by "standard edition" you meant you wouldn't be pre-ordering).

Anyway, pre-ordered the EB Games one already, it's the only one that offers something you can't just buy later.

Neat, but where's the love for the UK? I want that cool map! >_<

No store I've seen is offering any kind of bonus.

The novels would actually be pretty cool. But I've already pre-ordered online for less than half that price and I still get the map.

The higher-quality map (as opposed to the paper one that you'll get no-matter-what) is, according to the BethBlog [http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/06/23/get-a-premium-skyrim-map-with-your-preorder/], "available in North American and European territories", so you'll get it if you pre-order.

Dang it Aussies, first Arkham City, and now this. All I have is the Steam pre-purchase, where all you get is a hat for the Heavy. >_>

True, but until that's confirmed by the retailers I'm not going to waste my pre-order.

I really want that map, but $110 is a bit of a steep price for me

It takes up to 10 business days for delivery, so you'll have to be prepared to wait past the release date, but I've never had any problems with them.

Wait, $108 for an "Exclusive" edition? That can't be right- $108 is our standard new release price. I'd expect it to be around $130- that's where that one inFamous special edition was (Granted, it had more in it)

More collectors editions? Well I guess it's cheaper than $200 AUD. Although the "premium" map comes with every pre-order regardless of edition

Yeah I expected price to rape my wallet into unconsiousness, but it seems it will just be molested to the same extent its used to (exluding steam and its glorious sales).

Ive also noticed that for my recent purchases its been cheaper to buy the limited edition with all the extras, or whatever fancy edition the devs decided to name it.

Those all sound pretty awesome. I hope they offer them in the UK, they most likely will I guess. This is good news for me too, since I want to get something more than just the standard game, but the LCE is just too much for my liking. That steelbook case sounds sweet, or I might go for the novels intead.

I'm hoping the map comes with UK pre-orders from GAME as well, I'm pre-ordering my collectors edition in the next couple of days and the picture on the website has a map but the description doesn't include one. Meh if it doesn't I'll be content with my 30cm high Alduin statue.

I tip my hat to you, good sir.
