Buy MineCon Tickets Now and Get a Chance to Meet Notch

The first 500 ticket purchasers will enter a drawing to be a "very important person" at MineCon in November.

MineCon is going to be a gathering of MineCraft fans from all over the world. Markus "Notch" Persson and many other members of his company Mojang will be in attendance to offer stories and details about the building sim, as well as give some details about their other projects [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/112106-Bethesda-Says-Mojangs-Scrolls-Infringes-on-Elder-Scrolls-Mark]. The first MineCon is happening on November 18th and 19th at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. Tickets went on sale today for $99, and the first 500 purchased online get the chance to make their MineCon experience a special one. (You can also buy tickets at the event for $139, in case you hate planning ahead.)

That's right, one of the lucky first 500 ticket holders will be drawn to be a VIP guest of Notch for the "The ULTIMATE Fan Experience." What does the lucky person get? Well:

your hotel stay during MineCon (for the nights of November 17,18, and 19th)
VIP seating to Keynotes and Classes
A meal with Team Mojang

All that's missing is some gambling chips and free drinks. Then again, it's Vegas. Sit down at a table or in front of a slot machine and the alcohol will follow.

What am I talking about? The VIP at MineCon will have more important things to do - like pestering Notch on what is coming down the pipe at Mojang.

If you had Notch's ear, what would you ask for? Buy a ticket to MineCon now [http://www.certain.com/system/profile/form/index.cfm?PKformID=0x11297799b65] and you might get a chance to ask him.

I seem to be reminded of the early days of Disc Jockeys here.

Notch isn't a celebrity. All credit to the guy, but he's a programmer. He may be an awesome programmer (though that can be debated) but he's just a guy who implemented an idea.

Now Peter Molyneux I'd go and see; Tim Schafer: Yes; John Carmack, certainly; Tara Strong, I'd be there in a heartbeat. But Notch?

Would you go to a convention for this guy?

Because you'll know his work as much as Notch's, probably.

I'm pretty sure 80% of the people playing Minecraft worship him as a god so yeah he isn't a celebrity he is more.

I still think Minecraft is just an editor(a great one but nothing else). It's like Bethesda instead of selling Oblivion or Skyrim only sell the Construction pack editor.

I want to go but can't D:. What I like about this convention is the indieness, everybody is humble and nice and the whole thing is profitless for Mojang (Paraphrasing Notch "We make money by making games, not through conventions").

As much as I enjoy minecraft, and im sure the convention would be a blast, I really cant think of anything to say to Notch. I guess Id be more interested in finding out how mojang pulled off the buisness model for minecraft. The man sold us an alpha and we emptied out wallets at him. And I think minecraft got its attention via word of mouth as well.

I thought people who play Minecraft were like people who post on B.net, full of complaining and hatred of a game they can't stop playing. Half want an action adventure and half want more building materials, either one will complain if the update doesn't focus on their interests.

I don't have Minecraft but it looks interesting, I have a feeling I'd spend way too much time drafting plans rather than playing it if I got it.

Really? No thanks, this is a bit too silly for my liking.

Also, there's a part of me which hopes this turns out to be a scam.

I know more about Notch than i do Moleneux, and i havent even heard of john Cormack or Tara Strong.
And whoever they were probably started with "guys who implimented ideas" as well.
Celebritydom isnt for you to decide, its up to the fans.

Wrong quote. Bad punctuation. Misspelling. Unsure of two luminaries.

I'm sure Notch will welcome your undying support. Do you perhaps play Halo or CoD?

I'd rather be ignorant and misspelt than grumpy and condescending.

Also, TF2 all the way.

It is amazing how much flak he gets from those people. Granted "SOME", and I cannot stress that enough, of it is justified, majority of it is inexcusable.
Yeah, I saw that too. Some guy was saying that Notch was lazy and referenced that pic. The only thing I can say about Notch is that he should keep his private life private.

I don't know the guy, nor have I played his game so I can't really judge him on who he is or what he's done for the Minecraft Community. I was just amased at the results from when I searched up "Notch is lazy" to see what that guy was talking about.

EDIT: I will say this, the Terraria(this one I own) Community is similar in its' foaming mouth hatred of the developers of the game they can't stop playing. I can't bring myself to sign up to their forum because of that, it's really rather sad.

Why do people treat this guy like he is some kind of god? He makes one popular game, and throws money at the Humble Bundle, and he is some kind of Saint? What don't I understand about this?
