GHWT's Launch Week DLC Extravaganza
Prepare to swim in the seas of rock with these launch-week downloads.
If Guitar Hero World Tour's massive 83 song tracklist [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/86251], packed entirely with master recordings, isn't enough rock for you, the slew of DLC available during launch week this month should temporarily slake your thirst. This week Activision announced a downloadable line-up featuring oldies-but-goodies mined from the classic rock vault and a few fresh cuts for good measure.
Three rocking anthems - "Rock and Roll Band" by Boston, "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner, and "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield - will be available as part of the classic rock track pack and as individual downloads. Fast-forwarding a few decades, Blind Melon's chart topping hit "No Rain" will provide some feel good jamming grooves as an individual track download. Additionally, Ted Nugent and Zakk Wylde created original guitar duel compositions Guitar Hero World Tour, which will be available for free download and play outside of Career Mode.
Metallica fans who have been rocking out to Death Magnetic on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will be able to continue to do so, as the tracks are compatible with both games. If you missed it the first time around, the full album will be available for download for Guitar Hero World Tour on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and the PlayStation Store.
Xbox 360 owners will get first dibs to nab the three-song R.E.M. track pack featuring the songs "Horse to Water," "Man-Sized Wreath," and "Supernatural Superserious" from the group's new album Accelerate. The tracks will also be available for individual download. The R.E.M. track pack will be available exclusively on Xbox LIVE for two weeks beginning Oct. 30, before also coming to the PlayStation Store.
Though the Wii version of Guitar Hero World Tour is confirmed to be DLC-enabled, Activision's announcement does not include any mention of availability of the new DLC content for the game on Nintendo's console. Also, no pricing was mentioned.
