Warner Bros. Pushes Arkham City PC Release Back to November

Batman will be late to the PC party and the reason why remains shrouded in mystery.

PC gamers who are looking forward to beating the snot out of criminals in Batman: Arkham City will have to wait a little longer than expected. Warner Bros. has announced that the PC version of the game will not be coming out in October with the console versions. Instead, it will come out on an unspecified date in November.

Warner did not give any reason for the delay, but it did say that the release date for the console versions hadn't changed. Presumably, the PC version requires a little more time before it's ready for release, but we've reached out to Rocksteady and Warner to see if we can find out the exact cause of the delay. We'll update if and when we hear anything back.

This cloud does have a faint silver lining however, as Warner has also released a few new screenshots of the game, showing Batman doing some of the things he's best known for: sneaking, punching guys in the face, and standing on rooftops at night. Hopefully they'll help make the wait a little more bearable, rather than making it worse.

Batman: Arkham City comes out for PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 18th.

I was ready to throw my computer monitor out the window when I read the words "Warner Bros. Pushes Arkham City...", but then I saw that it was PC version, and all was well again. Nothing against those who prefer to play PC games, mind you.

Edit: After looking at the first screenshot, I must ask how committed to henchmandom do you have to be to have half your face scarred?

I'm right there with ya. I'm especially jumpy with Arkham City, since they pushed back the release date of Arkham Asylum so late. By God, if I find out that one month from today, I will not be playing some Arkham City...well, I can't be held responsible for my actions...

Damn it all! I managed to get a go on Arkham City at GAMEfest last weekend. It was loads of fun, and now I have to wait. With Skyrim and Saint's Row out in November I don't think I'll be able to afford to get all the games I want on release. May have to wait for sales.

I'm okay with this, as long as they're optimizing.

Please don't tack a broken PhysX attachment on this time, okay?

Hooray this means I can buy Gears of War 3.... and stil have time to save up for Skyrim and Bats :3

But seriously I'm guessing it's becuase of Direct x11 issues? They perhaps want to get it perfect.
Just a guess like.

The wait is completely bearable. Not that many games worth buying these days to begin with. With that said, I loved arkham asylum and even if the release date is pushed back some more I know this game is going to be totally worth it. In the meantime TF2/L4D2/KF/GMOD/dota2anticpation.

Meh. I'd be ok with it if it were so they could remove GFWL from it, but that seems pretty unlikely, so instead I'll keep not playing the games (haven't bought the first for that reason, won't get this one), because I'm not going to put up with that crap, and I still haven't gotten a chance to hijack a friend's console to play it on. Oh well.

I'm kinda pissed, they pulled the same thing with the first Arkham Asylum, they are just doing this to force the sales of the console version instead because they are oh so afraid that people will pirate a PC copy instead.
They aren't fixing anything with the game, nor do I think they really need this time, as evidenced by the fact that they said the same for the first game, and yet a full PC copy was leaked even before the console version came out.

I honestly, wish I could get my money back from my preorder (but sadly digital distributors don't give that option) and tell Warner Brothers to shove it, I'm sick of being treated like a second class gamer because I'm on the PC.

I have both the console version and PC version of Arkham Asylum. I prefer to play the game with a game pad...

So with that said, i'll be getting this on the Console. It sux if you don't own a console, but i'm a PC gamer who has long since accepted that I will always be treated like a second class citizen. Case and point. Battlefield 3.

on the upside i'll actually have a reason to turn on my ps3 again. Haven't turned it on since the expiration date of claiming free games from the welcome back package XD

So my console friends are going to steal a march on me whatever I do. In that case I will push my purchasing date until the first set of price drops for the game. Two can play at this game.....

But I'm not going to be too hard or be on their case. They are adding a lot to the PC version, like physx and DX11 features, like tessellation and fog. It's kinda understandable that they may need a bit of extra time to get, what sounds like the best version, up to the right standard...

Considering those releases this is a bit of a shot to the foot?

OT: It's a good thing I own a console too.

Well, look at it like this; now you're spending less money in October, so you can save that money for when Arkham City does come out. I manage my cash like that, already set the money aside before I get it, plan everything well.

Kinda sucks, guess I'll be waiting. I'm thinking Battlefield 3 will eat up October. Then Skyrim... I'm sorry but I'm not interrupting 200 hours of Skyrim to play Batman, no matter how good.

I probably won't have much October money anyway as I've spent a lot this month, and need to pay off my overdraft. Also Halloween trips are a possibility so maybe it's for the best. AC will have to go on the list along with Deus Ex of games to maybe get next year.

I don't care if they push it back, the PC version is 20 dollars cheaper than the console version AND uses DX11. I don't mind waiting for what should be the better version of the game.

(I say "should be" under the assumption that they're doing it right.)
